The Broncos released CB Curome Cox.
Cox’s release indicates that the Broncos’ injured defensive backs, namely Champ Bailey and Darrent Williams, are healthier.
  • NO Defensive Back
Curome Cox was signed by DEN on Sunday November 13.
  • LV Defensive Back
The Broncos’ interest in Chiefs S Greg Wesley may have waned due to the solid training camps put together by Curome Cox and Hamza Abdullah.
The teams discussed a trade earlier in camp. Wesley is expected to back up first-year starter Bernard “Bonecrusher” Pollard at strong safety this season.
  • DEN Defensive Back
Broncos backup safety Sam Brandon was suspended two games for violating the league’s conduct policy.
Brandon, the Broncos’ No. 3 safety, was arrested for domestic violence last summer. Usual special teamers Curome Cox and Hamza Abdullah will likely play more while he misses time. Brandon’s loss could hurt if free safety John Lynch or strong safety Nick Ferguson goes down early in the season.
  • NO Defensive Back
    Texans signed S Curome Cox.
He was a starter briefly in Denver, and knows Gary Kubiak’s schemes. With Houston so banged-up in the secondary, Cox may play sooner than later.
  • NO Defensive Back
    Broncos released S Curome Cox.
Cox was inactive for the first time this season on Sunday after playing for the Broncos in 36 games over the past three years. At one point last season he was a starter.
  • NO Defensive Back
Saints signed S Curome Cox and waived S Tuff Harris.
Cox adds experienced depth at a thinning spot in New Orleans.
  • NO Defensive Back
    Texans released S Curome Cox.
Cox appeared in seven games for the Texans after being released by the Broncos last year, primarily on special teams. Undrafted free agent WR Ryan Grice-Mullen was also released.

  • NO Defensive Back
Curome Cox is now expected to be Denver’s starting strong safety.
The man he’s replacing, Nick Ferguson, wasn’t a top Individual Defender, and we’d expect less from Cox. A second-year undrafted free agent from Maryland, Cox will make his second career start on Thursday.
