Bills signed OT Cornell Green to a three-year, $9 million contract.
While Buffalo is undoubtedly desperate for tackle help, the signing is curious. Green received no known interest elsewhere, turns 34 before the season, and has played a full 16-game schedule just once in his 10-year career. The Raiders were also always trying to replace Green, which isn’t a good sign.
  • LV Tackle
Raiders signed T Seth Wand, formerly of the Titans.
Wand was once seen as the left tackle of the future for the Texans, but never panned out. He supplies depth with right tackle Cornell Green mending.
  • FA Tackle #75
LT Mario Henderson and RT Cornell Green opened minicamp as starters on the Raiders first-team offense.
Free agent signing Khalif Barnes is expected to compete for a starting role, but for now is behind Henderson, who was solid in the closing weeks of the ’08 season. Erik Pears is set to backup Green on the other side. C Samson Satele remains out of action following shoulder surgery.
  • Cornell Green left Sunday’s game in the first quarter with a knee injury.
Green is considered questionable to return, with Paul McQuistan replacing him.
  • Raiders placed T Cornell Green on injured reserve, ending his season.
The eight-year veteran started Oakland’s first ten games at right tackle before a foot injury, the extent of which is unknown, knocked him out for the year. Green can be an unrestricted free agent this coming offseason.
  • Raiders RT Cornell Green will miss at least the next two weeks with a calf injury.
Green isn’t a high impact blocker, but the Raiders are now dealing with injury fallout at right tackle, center, and left guard. The lack of continuity on the line bodes very poorly for an already embarrassingly unproductive offense.
