Colts signed CB Corey Ballentine, formerly of the Packers.
Ballentine appeared in 15 games for the Packers last year and saw most of his reps on special teams. He got more run at outside corner in 2023, logging six starts and a 55 percent snap share across 14 games. Ballentine will play a depth role for the Colts this year.
  • GB Wide Receiver #11
Packers placed WR Jayden Reed on the active/non-football injury list.
We’ll assume this is a minor issue that will be rectified in short order. There haven’t been any reports of an injury to Reed, who has been present and active with the team throughout the offseason. The second-year receiver is hoping for a breakout campaign in 2024 after an impressive 64-793-8 line last season. In addition to Reed, the Packers also placed cornerback Corey Ballentine and offensive tackle Caleb Jones on the NFI list.

Jets claimed CB Corey Ballentine off waivers from the Giants.
Ballentine adds depth after playing 18 percent of snaps with the Giants. The Jets have allowed the fourth most pass yards in the league though nine weeks.

    Giants waived CB Corey Ballentine.
It’s a surprise, as the No. 180 overall pick of last year’s draft had been playing 15-25 weekly snaps on defense. Evidently they were not to the Giants’ liking. Ballentine will presumably be stashed on the practice squad if he clears waivers, though it’s also possible the G-Men are simply moving on from a player they don’t view as part of their future.

Giants CB Corey Ballentine (leg) got in limited work during OTAs.
Ballentine appears to be progressing well from the gunshot wound to his leg he suffered in late April. He might not be a full-go at mandatory minicamp, but it would be a surprise if he is not ready once training camp opens at the end of July.

Giants CB Corey Ballentine participated in positional drills.
Ballentine is progressing from a gunshot wound to his leg, and it’s good news that he’s already practicing in some capacity. The Giants fully expect Ballentine to be a full participant for training camp, and the 2019 sixth-round pick has opportunities for snaps as a rookie if his athleticism translates.
  • DAL Cornerback #36
Giants signed sixth-round CB Corey Ballentine to a four-year contract.
On the night he was drafted, Ballentine was the victim of a shooting in which his college teammate, Dwane Simmons, was tragically killed. Ballentine was hospitalized after taking a bullet to the leg, but he has since been released and is expected to be ready for training camp. Once he is healthy, Ballentine has the athleticism to outplay his draft stock.
  • DAL Cornerback #36
Giants sixth-round CB Corey Ballentine (leg) will be sidelined for rookie minicamp.
Ballentine was just released from the hospital after getting shot in the leg. He’ll miss at least a few weeks but should make a full recovery in time for training camp.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports Giants sixth-round CB Corey Ballentine is out of the hospital.
Ballentine was shot in the leg early Sunday morning after being drafted by the Giants the afternoon before. Ballentine will be on the shelf for a few weeks, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Dwane Simmons, Ballentine’s college teammate, tragically was killed in the shooting.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Giants CB Corey Ballentine’s recovery from a gunshot will take a few weeks.
Ballentine was shot in the leg early Sunday morning after being drafted in the sixth round on Saturday. His gunshot wound luckily isn’t life-threatening and he should have ample time to compete for a roster spot leading into the 2019 season, but Ballentine, unfortunately, will also be coping with the loss of his college teammate, Dwane Simmons, who passed away from the senseless shooting.
