Lions OT Connor Galvin suffered a torn MCL in Thursday’s preseason game and is out for the season.
Galvin spent last season on the Lions’ practice squad after joining the team as a rookie UDFA. The former Baylor Bear was competing for a spot as added depth along the offensive line, but will now see his second season come to an end with this injury. Galvin had his leg rolled up on in Thursday’s preseason game against the Giants and was eventually carted off the field. The Lions may look to add somebody else to their line to replace Galvin in the coming days.

Lions signed Baylor T Connor Galvin.
Galvin (6’6.625/293) was a 4-star recruit and the 24th-ranked offensive tackle in the 2018 recruiting class, from Katy, Texas, according to 247 Sports. Though highly recruited, Galvin still has a lot of physical development left to grow into. This especially shows in his poor anchor. However, he generates his power well with his hips and with added mass and strength should be able to develop that skill down the line. He plays well in space, as is necessary in the wide open Big 12, but can overset when kickstepping. His step is often a bit too bouncy and his pad level gets a little high when trying to widen the curve off a vertical pass rush. In the run game, he gets behind his pads and is reliable to run behind as he is smooth, albeit narrow, blocking out on the edge or at the second level. There are shades of a rookie Terrence Steele to his game.
