Colby Bockwoldt is currently the Saints’ starting weak-side linebacker.
Bockwoldt dabbled in the middle and on the strong side in training camp but will start New Orleans’ preseason opener at WLB.
  • CLE Linebacker
Colby Bockwoldt has moved back to weak-side linebacker.
Bockwoldt, who started all 16 games last season at WLB, lined up at middle linebacker during April minicamp. Scott Fujita will play the strong side. Newly-signed Tommy Polley and Anthony Simmons could compete in the middle.
  • CLE Linebacker
Colby Bockwoldt is the incumbent weak-side linebacker for the Saints this season.
The 2004 seventh-round pick ended up starting seven games last season, playing quite well. He’s added muscle because of the offseason conditioning program and is favored to start over Derrick Rodgers this season. If looking for a deep sleeper in IDP leagues, Bockwoldt is a fine choice.
  • CLE Linebacker
49ers released LB Colby Bockwoldt, OL Harvey Dahl, OL Damane Duckett, OL Tavares Washington, TE Zac Herold, TE Zachary Hilton, DE Sam Rayburn, S Darnell Bing, S Vickiel Vaughn, RB Zak Keasey, LB Mark Washington.
Bockwoldt and Hilton are former Saints who have bounced around the league quite a bit. Bing looks to be running out of chances quickly after getting drafted by the Raiders last year. Rayburn had some decent seasons with Philadelphia.
  • CLE Linebacker
Browns waived LB Colby Bockwoldt and C Greg Eslinger.
Eslinger could join the practice team if he clears waivers, but Denver may have some interest. Bockwoldt, once a 100-tackle man, has fallen off quickly.
  • CLE Linebacker
    Browns signed LB Colby Bockwoldt.
Bockwoldt, who will provide depth after a season-ending injury to Kris Griffin, started 16 games for the Saints in 2005, but has bounced around the league since then. He was released by the 49ers late in camp.
  • CLE Linebacker
Colby Bockwoldt lined up at middle linebacker at Friday’s practice.
Scott Fujita was the WILL and Anthony Simmons was the SAM. Bockwoldt, who has improved in his two seasons, would be a very interesting IDP option in the middle for the Saints.
  • CLE Linebacker
Saints hired former Rams interim head coach Joe Vitt as linebackers coach Friday.
We feel a whole lot better covering the NFL with Joe Vitt in it. It’s unfortunate that linebacker coaches don’t hold press conferences, though.
  • CLE Linebacker
    Saints released LB Colby Bockwoldt.
The 2004 seventh-rounder can be dropped in dynasty IDP leagues. Scott Fujita will start at the SAM with Scott Shanle likely on the weak side.
  • CLE Linebacker
Titans claimed LB Colby Bockwoldt (Saints), FB Casey Cramer (Panthers), CB Eric King, DE Josh Savage off waivers.
Bockwoldt and Cramer have a lot of experience as starters in the NFL. Cramer especially may have a big role quickly for Tennessee.
