DeDe Dorsey has yet to claim the clear-cut No. 2 RB job in Indianapolis.
Undrafted rookie Clifton Dawson has impressed in camp and Kenton Keith has more experience, albeit in the CFL. Dorsey only gained 15 yards on six carries in the preseason opener. It’s beginning to look like Joseph Addai will be the lone workhorse in the Colts’ backfield this season.
  • IND Running Back
Colts RB Kenton Keith underwent an MRI on his ankle Friday afternoon.
The results are unknown. Keith, who is competing for the backup job, has been bothered by the ankle while participating at camp.
  • HOU Running Back
Bengals declared RB Clifton Dawson, LB Rashad Jeanty, DB Ethan Kilmer, DE Frostee Rucker, G/C Dan Santucci, S Marvin White, and CB David Jones inactive for Monday night’s Week 1 game. Jeff Rowe is the third QB.
Dawson and Jones were recently nabbed off waivers. Johnathan Joseph is active, but will not start. Leon Hall gets the nod. Jeanty, a starter, is injured.
  • HOU Running Back
Colts RB Clifton Dawson has reportedly been the “surprise of camp.”
Dawson, who went undrafted out of Harvard due to speed and size concerns, has shown good quickness and excelled in pass protection. It appears Dawson is ahead of Kenton Keith to be Indianapolis’ No. 3 halfback.
  • HOU Running Back
Colts declared RB Clifton Dawson, DB Brannon Condren, WR Craphonso Thorpe, DL Dan Klecko, OG Dylan Gandy, DL Jeff Charleston, CB Michael Coe, and LB Victor Worsley inactive Monday night at Jacksonville.
They get SS Bob Sanders, WR Marvin Harrison, RB Joseph Addai, and LB Freddie Keiaho back after all missed Week 5 with injuries. TE Ben Utecht also returns. Dawson is Indy’s third-stringer behind Addai and Kenton Keith.
  • HOU Running Back
Colts RB Clifton Dawson ran for 27 yards on five carries as the Colts fell to the Bears 27-24 in Monday night’s exhibition.
The smallish undrafted tailback didn’t catch any passes but ran hard. He’s making a case to be the Colts’ third-string running back as a rookie.
  • HOU Running Back
Clifton Dawson rushed eight times for 24 yards and caught one pass for nine yards in Week 5 against the Bucs.
Dawson served as Kenton Keith’s backup with Joseph Addai out and looked solid in limited action. He figures to stick around as the No. 3 running back, but could be inactive on game days once Addai returns.
  • HOU Running Back
Rookie RB Clifton Dawson (ankle) will sit out the Colts’ preseason finale.
This likely eliminates him from contention for Indianapolis’ No. 2 running back job, though he was the long shot amongst DeDe Dorsey and Kenton Keith. The Colts should keep a spot open for Dawson on the practice squad.
  • DET Running Back
    Colts released RB DeDe Dorsey.
Wow. Dorsey was expected by most to backup Joseph Addai this season, but with Clifton Dawson also being cut, that job now belongs to CFL star Kenton Keith. Expect the Colts to make an addition off waivers.
  • HOU Running Back
    Colts released RB Clifton Dawson.
Dawson suffered an ankle injury and sat out the final preseason game. He should end up on the practice squad.
