Training camp fights are all in good fun until someone gets hurt. DE Dave Tollefson threw OT William Beatty into Louis’ left leg during the fracas. Louis was writhing in pain before being carted off. Imagine if it was someone that mattered?

The Browns couldn’t just traded Louis to the Giants for Jonathan Palmer and it would’ve been a more interesting transaction. Cleveland claimed Palmer off waivers from New York on Wednesday.

The Jints will likely try to get Monk onto the practice squad. He has a high long-term ceiling at 6'4/222 with wheels. Quarterman went to Louisville.

Giants signed QB Andre Woodson, WRs Taye Biddle and WR Micah Rucker, OG Mike Fladell, OT Cliff Louis, TE Martrez Milner, SS Travonti Johnson, RB Dwayne Wright, and OT Orrin Thompson to reserve/future contracts.

The Jints don’t take these signings lightly. Milner and Wright are both former fourth-round picks with some potential. Woodson, their sixth-rounder a year ago, had a miserable 2008 preseason. His confidence may be shot.

Cardinals signed RB Alfonso Smith, WR Isaiah Williams, LBs Brandon Sharpe and Pago Togafau, DE Jeremy Navarre, OT Cliff Louis, and OG Tom Pestock to reserve/future contracts.

Smith, undrafted out of Kentucky, spent one week on the active roster this season but didn’t receive a carry. Sharpe is a converted defensive end from Texas Tech. Togafau can play special teams and inside linebacker in a pinch.
