  • JAX Cornerback #21
Jaguars selected Rutgers DB Christian Braswell with the No. 202 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
A 2022 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten corner, Braswell played his final season at Rutgers after spending three years with Temple. He had three picks and 11 passes defensed in 2022, along with 36 tackles. He missed his 2021 season due to a knee injury. The Jaguars appear to have drafted a depth project for their cornerback room near the end of the sixth round.

  • JAX Cornerback #21
Former Temple redshirt junior CB Christian Braswell transferred to Rutgers.
Braswell (5'10/178) has been a fixture in the Temple secondary since 2018 when he logged 237 snaps and earned a solid 72.6 PFF defensive grade as a redshirt freshman. He really emerged in 2019, recording 685 snaps, 29 tackles, one forced fumble, nine PBU and an interception while starting nine-of-12 games. Braswell started all six games for the Owls last year, and now will have the opportunity to start at the Power Five level at Rutgers.

  • JAX Cornerback #21
Temple redshirt junior CB Christian Braswell (hamstring) has returned to practice and looks ready to go for the Oct. 10 match against Navy.
Having Braswell (5'10/178) in the lineup is huge for Temple. Last season, Braswell’s nine passes defended led the team. Furthermore, Pro Football Focus had him down for having allowed just a 37.1% catch rate. Braswell is as good as a cornerback gets in the Group of Five. Granted, that matters less against Navy than it will for the rest of the team’s schedule, but the Owls have to be happy that he looks back in playing shape.

  • JAX Cornerback #21
Temple redshirt junior CB Christian Braswell allowed a catch rate of just 37.1% last season according to Pro Football Focus.
Braswell (5'10/178) appeared in 12 games for the Owls last season, tallying 29 total tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and 10 passes defensed. In addition to the low catch rate that he allowed, which ranked fifth among corners that saw at least 25 targets, the redshirt junior also allowed 18 yards or less in more than half of his games played according to Pro Football Focus. Braswell will be a key cog in the Temple defense this fall as the Owls look to contend in the American.
