Bucs selected BYU CB Chris Wilcox with the No. 251 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Wilcox (6'2/198) steadily earned more starts each season in his five years at BYU. He started just two games in 2016 before working to a full-time role by 2018. However, Wilcox fractured his lower leg towards the tail end of 2018 and subsequently missed the 2019 season, then had his 2020 season shortened due to COVID schedule changes. As a prospect, Wilcox is a bet on explosiveness and speed. Wilcox clocked a 4.39 40-yard dash and hit at least the 70th-percentile in both jump drills. Wilcox ran an abysmal 7.19 three-cone drill, however, which matches with his turbulent transitions in man coverage. Wilcox is tall, long, and fast, so he could be a decent project for Cover 3-based teams.

BYU redshirt senior CB Chris Wilcox has opted out of Tuesday’s RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl against UCF.
Just an hour before kickoff, it seems Wilcox has decided his last college football game is already behind him. Wilcox will skip Tuesday’s game and instead focus on preparing for the NFL Draft from here on out. In fact, as Jay Drew of Desert News relays, Wilcox has already hired an agent. A redshirt senior, Wilcox measures in at 6-foot-2 and 197-pounds, giving him prototypical size for the position. Wilcox missed a lot of the 2019 season with various injuries, but did bounce back and play some in 2020, recording 18 tackles and one pass defense. Wilcox never recorded an interception at BYU. Expect Wilcox to be more of a UDFA or borderline Day 3 type.

BYU senior CB Chris Wilcox (undisclosed) will not play in Tuesday’s SoFi Hawaii Bowl vs. Hawaii due to an undisclosed injury.
Wilcox (6'2/200) has appeared in just one game this season after undergoing offseason surgery, and as a result he’s preserved the season of eligibility and will return in 2020. The senior cornerback appeared in nine games in 2018, tallying 28 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and two pass breakups. Wilcox will be a key member of the BYU secondary next season.

BYU senior CB Chris Wilcox (undisclosed) will suit up and play this Saturday against Idaho State.
Wilcox (6'2"/197) is another of BYU’s walking wounded who had surgery pre-season and held off coming back until this week in order to preserve his redshirt and play in 2020. Wilcox started nine games last year, recording 28 tackles, two TFL and two passes defended. He was slotted in as a starting cornerback heading into camp, but an injury derailed his 2019 season until now. BYU hosts Idaho State next Saturday.
