Former Broncos and Chargers CB Chris Harris Jr. officially announced his retirement from the NFL.
The 34-year-old decided to hang it up after he “realized everybody was pretty much moving on with the younger players.” The 12-year veteran will retire with 22 interceptions for 508 yards and four touchdowns. He was most known for being part of the “No Fly Zone,” in Denver along with Aqib Talib, Darian Stewart, T.J. Ward, and Bradley Roby. A group that helped lead the Broncos to victory in Super Bowl 50. Harris was undrafted out of Kansas but played for the Broncos from 2011-19, while making four Pro Bowls, earning one first-team All-Pro nod, and being named to the 2010s All-Decade Team. After leaving the Broncos, Harris played with the Los Angeles Chargers from 2020-21 and the New Orleans Saints in 2022, which was his last year in the NFL.
  • Free agent CB Chris Harris said he has interest from “about five teams.”
“We’re definitely heating up. I’m just taking my time and waiting to see the best fit for me. Definitely looking for a contender.” Harris could miss the early part of training camp but expects to sign no later than mid-August. The four-time Pro Bowler’s time with the Chargers was derailed with injuries, missing 10 games on IR and the COVID list the last two seasons.

  • Chargers placed CB Chris Harris on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Harris was joined by safety Nasir Adderley. Chargers coach Brandon Staley has already ruled both players out. That’s two starting members of LA’s secondary gone for Week 17. Luckily for the Chargers, they face either Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater this week. Neither passer figures to pick them apart despite the absences.

  • LAC Wide Receiver #81
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Chargers WR Mike Williams (reserve/COVID-19) is on track to play in Week 14 against the Giants.
Williams has continued to test negative after being ruled a close contact to Keenan Allen. That sets him up to clear the protocol and play in Sunday’s game. It’s great news for the Chargers with Allen out and Austin Ekeler at less than 100 percent. Chargers CB Chris Harris (COVID) is also expected to play in Week 14.

  • Chargers activated CB Chris Harris from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Placed on the list as a close contact, Harris was able to test negative and get back on the active roster without missing any games. It is good news for the Chargers’ defense.

  • Chargers placed CB Chris Harris on the reserve/COVID list.
Harris reportedly isn’t vaccinated. If he was a close contact, it’s possible that he returns for Week 14. If he tested positive, Harris is out for a minimum of 10 days. That would knock him out for at least Weeks 14 and 15 against the Giants and Chiefs because the Chargers play on Thursday night next week.

  • Chargers CB Chris Harris (shoulder) is active for Week 5 against the Browns.
It’ll be Harris’ first action since Week 1. Inactive for the Chargers are RB Justin Jackson (groin), DB Trey Marshall, TE Tre’ McKitty, OL Brenden Jaimes, and QB Easton Stick.

  • Josina Anderson reports Chargers CB Chris Harris (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 5 against the Browns.
Harris hasn’t played since injuring his shoulder versus Washington in Week 1. The Chargers are already allowing the fifth-fewest passing yards per game this year. The return of Harris should make the matchup for Baker Mayfield even more difficult. Mayfield has topped 250 yards just once this year and has yet to record a game with multiple touchdown passes. He’s only on the fantasy radar in Superflex and 2QB formats.

  • Chargers declared CB Chris Harris, QB Easton Stick, TE Tre’ McKitty, OL Brenden Jaimes, and RB Joshua Kelley inactive for Week 4 against the Raiders.
Harris (shoulder) hasn’t played since Week 1. Kelley is the Chargers’ fourth running back behind Austin Ekeler, Larry Rountree, and Justin Jackson.

  • Chargers activated CB Chris Harris (foot) from injured reserve.
Harris has been absent for the Chargers since Week 3. His availability comes at the perfect time as the Chargers will be asked to stuff Josh Allen without Melvin Ingram (knee, IR) and Casey Hayward (groin) on Sunday. Harris will likely be tasked with manning Cole Beasley from the slot.
