Undrafted rookie Chris Hannon and sixth-rounder Jeff Webb are reportedly competing to be the Chiefs’ fourth receiver.
Craphonso Thorpe will probably get cut. Kansas City’s offense has struggled so badly in the early preseason that we’ve had almost no chance to see the team’s receivers do anything.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Chris Hannon finished Thursday night’s exhibition game with three catches for 33 yards and caught the Chiefs’ lone touchdown.
Hannon showed he’s willing to go over the middle on his 21-yard touchdown. Brodie Croyle’s pass was low but Hannon cradled it in and found his way past multiple defenders for the score. He should make the final roster.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Chiefs WR Chris Hannon ‘appears to be the third wide receiver,’ according to Scout.com.
Hannon practiced with the first team as Eddie Kennison sat out while Jeff Webb was “nowhere to be seen.” It is still early, but Hannon appears to have the lead over Webb, while first-round pick Dwayne Bowe remains a holdout.
  • LV Wide Receiver
Samie Parker has struggled with drops at Chiefs camp.
He’s lining up as a starter, but that just isn’t likely to last. Chris Hannon, Jeff Webb, and Dwayne Bowe (once he signs) should make Parker more of a special teams player and situational slot receiver. He’s no longer a fantasy option, but the younger guys haven’t stepped up.
  • PIT Wide Receiver
Chiefs signed WR Eddie Drummond, formerly of the Lions.
Drummond immediately becomes the Chiefs’ top return man, ahead of Ean Randolph. His addition may mean Chris Hannon goes on the practice squad.
  • PIT Wide Receiver
Eddie Drummond worked out for the Chiefs on Saturday.
Drummond would replace Jeff Webb as the team’s kick returner. The addition of Drummond could be bad news for backup returner and fifth WR Chris Hannon.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
    Chiefs released WR Chris Hannon.
He got a lot of positive press this summer as a possible third receiver, but Eddie Drummond made the team over him. Samie Parker, Dwayne Bowe, and Jeff Webb will all rotate at receiver behind Eddie Kennison.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Panthers signed WRs Chris Hannon and Jason Carter, DT Gary Gibson, S C.J. Wilson, FB Billy Latsko, TE Chad Upshaw, and OL Rueben Riley to their practice squad.
Hannon was supposed to help the Chiefs this season but didn’t make the roster. Carter is a returner. Wilson was Carolina’s seventh-round pick.
  • KC Wide Receiver
Chiefs WR Jeff Webb sat out Kansas City’s first preseason game.
Herm Edwards has high hopes for Webb to play a major role in the offense. Webb has been unable to make a big push in camp, though. Samie Parker started the first preseason, while Chris Hannon had a key drop off the bench.
  • BAL Wide Receiver
Panthers signed WRs Chris Hannon and Dominique Thompson, G Rueben Riley, and RB DeCori Birmingham to reserve/future contracts.
Hannon seemed to be an up and coming player as an undrafted rookie with the Chiefs in 2006, but didn’t make the roster and spent last season on Carolina’s practice squad. He’ll have an uphill climb to contribute this year.
