Miami redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo has opted out of the team’s Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft.
It’s not surprising to hear, but Rambo (6'1/185) has officially been ruled out for the team’s bowl game according to Manny Navarro of The Athletic as he looks to prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft. Rambo was the team’s leading receiver this season, catching 79 passes for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns on 119 targets.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Miami redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo has declared for the NFL Draft.
Rambo (6'1/185) joins a potentially elite group of receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft, but enjoyed a breakout season in 2021. Rambo posted career-highs across the board in his junior year after transferring from Oklahoma following the 2020 season. Rambo caught 79 passes for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns on 119 targets. His breakout game came in Week 3 against Michigan State when he went for 12-156-2 on a season-high 18 targets. In his final six games of the season, Rambo eclipsed 100-yards receiving in five of those games, including a 203-yard output in Week 10 against Georgia Tech.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Miami redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo caught eight receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 37-10 win/ over Duke.
The Miami offense was in control of this game and Duke’s entire defense just didn’t have an answer. Rambo, a transfer from Oklahoma, set the single-season school record for Miami with 79 receptions. He passed Leonard Hankerson’s 72 from 2010 in the opening minute of the second quarter on a 12-yard touchdown catch. Miami will now wait to cap off 2021 on where they will play their bowl game.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Miami redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo turned seven receptions into 116 yards in a 38-26 victory on Saturday over Virginia Tech.
Rambo wasn’t able to score any of the three touchdowns that Tyler Van Dyke threw for, but the touchdowns don’t happen -- for the most part -- without his game. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound wideout has gone over the century mark in four-of-five games, and has provided the freshman quarterback with a very reliable target in these contests. Rambo will likely go over the hundred-yard mark again next week against the Blue Devils of Duke.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Miami redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo caught seven passes for 210 yards and a touchdown in a 33-30 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Rambo (6'1/185) continues his hot streak with QB Tyler Van Dyke with the best game of his Miami career. It started off hot in the first quarter with a beautiful over-the-shoulder pass 35 yards for a touchdown. He did fumble the ball over to the Yellow Jackets inside their 25 on a nasty blindside hit, but was able to come back and become the first Hurricanes player to break 200 yards receiving since Phillip Dorsett in 2014. The Hurricanes take on rival Florida State next Saturday.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Miami redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo caught seven passes for 101 yards in a 38-34 upset victory over Pitt this Saturday.
Rambo (6'1/185) continues his impressive run over the past few weeks by eclipsing the 100-yard mark for a second straight game. Though he didn’t score, Rambo was instrumental in helping Miami secure the win. With Miami backed up on their own one-yard line and clinging to their narrow four point lead late in the fourth quarter, Rambo caught an 18-yard pass to gain first down yardage and give Miami the time they needed to salt the game away and secure victory. He will try to clear the century mark for a third time when Miami takes on Georgia Tech next Saturday.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Miami redshirt junior receiver Charleston Rambo caught nine passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns in Miami’s 31-30 win over North Carolina State.
Rambo (6'1"/185) was magnificent, making tough catches all across the field. His first score of the day QB Tyler Van Dyke just launched one in the air and Rambo, with a CB draped all over him and interfering with him, managed to track the ball falling down and catch the TD. He nearly housed one on the first play of the third quarter, catching a deep pass and getting just barely caught by the last man to save a touchdown for a 60-yard gain. His final contribution was perhaps his most important, snagging a bullet with outstretched arms to bring in the four-yard go ahead score. Rambo has been boom-or-bust this season, but when he’s on the damage he can do is immense. Rambo will need to boom next week versus a highly potent Pittsburgh offense if Miami wants to keep up.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Miami redshirt junior receiver Charleston Rambo scored the first touchdown of the day against Michigan State, going for 12/156/2 in a 38-17 upset loss.
On Miami’s first scoring drive of the day, which came in the second quarter, Rambo (6'1/185) logged five receptions for 70 yards and capped off the drive with a three-yard touchdown. Rambo’s halftime stat line of 10/117/1 would have been a full day’s work for most receivers, but he hauled in another touchdown, a 14-yarder, in the third quarter where he took the pass away from two defenders in contested coverage. He entered today’s contest with 12 receptions for 86 yards and no touchdowns, but was easily D’Eriq King’s favorite target in this one. Rambo could be in for a big game next week against Central Connecticut State.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Former Oklahoma redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo transferred to Miami.
Not too long after Mike Harley announced that he would be returning to Miami for the 2021 season, the Hurricanes managed to improve their wide receiver room with the addition of Rambo (6'1/179). The redshirt junior was a highly productive target for Oklahoma in 2019, as he caught 43 passes for 743 yards and five touchdowns. Rambo wasn’t as productive in 2020, catching just 25 passes and slipping down the depth chart, and he’ll look to turn things around as a Hurricane in 2021. He will have up to two seasons of eligibility remaining.

  • Wide Receiver #43
Oklahoma redshirt junior WR Charleston Rambo entered the transfer portal.
Rambo (6'1/179) had a breakout 2019 campaign, catching 43-of-56 passes for 743 yards, 17.3 YPC and five touchdowns. Much was expected from the redshirt junior this season, but his play was overshadowed by Theo Wease and Marvin Mims, as Rambo fell down the depth chart. He only caught 25-of-47 passes for a 53 percent catch rate with a passer rating when targeted of only 77.6 compared to 140.5 last season. Rambo will have two years of eligibility left and will be able to play next season since he is transferring as a graduate.
