Giants signed TEs Charles Davis and Darcy Johnson, LB Tyson Smith, DTs Marcus Green and Adrian Awasom, WR Anthony Mix, and RB James Sims to the practice squad.
Davis was a fifth-round pick of the Steelers in April.
  • JAX Quarterback
Jaguars re-signed QB Todd Bouman and TE Charles Davis.
Bouman, 35, has a decent grasp of coordinator Dirk Koetter’s offense, but the Jags should be able to do better as a backup for David Garrard. They could be interested in Josh McCown and Daunte Culpepper. Davis is a camp body.
  • LAC Tight End
    Jaguars waived TE Charles Davis.
He’s been in the NFL four years, but hasn’t played in the regular season.
  • LAC Tight End
    Chargers signed TE Charles Davis.
He has about as much chance to make the team as NFL Network’s Charles Davis.
  • NO Wide Receiver
Jaguars waived WR D’Juan Woods, CB Rashod Moulton, DB Trae Williams, TE Chris Brown, DE Mkristo Bruce, OT Andrew Carnahan, and TE Charles Davis.
Carnahan was a draft pick in 2007 and Williams was the Jags’ seventh-round choice this year. Woods couldn’t beat out Troy Williams for a roster spot.
  • LAC Tight End
Steelers signed fifth-round TE Charles Davis to a three-year, $1.07 million contract.
The Purdue product has great size at nearly 6-6 and 254 pounds but he’ll have to refine his blocking skills to last in the league. Davis will begin his career behind Heath Miller and Jerame Tuman.
  • LAC Tight End
Steelers released rookie TE Charles Davis.
The Purdue product needs to learn how to block to stick in the league. He can catch but Davis is too one-dimensional at this point.
  • LAC Tight End
Steelers rookie TE Charles Davis is reportedly in danger of being cut.
The fifth-rounder from Purdue has been passed on the depth chart by undrafted rookie Jonathan Dekker. Davis can catch but struggles to block.
  • FA Running Back
Jaguars re-signed RB Alvin Pearman, OL Charles Spencer, and TE Charles Davis to reserve/future contracts.
Signed off the street late, Pearman scored on his only touch of 2008, a 23-yard pass in Week 17. The Jags cutting Fred Taylor could give Pearman a realistic shot to make the 2009 roster. The other two here are projects.
  • NYG Running Back
Giants signed RB Cedric Humes, CB Gerrick McPhearson, TE Charles Davis, and WR Anthony Mix, and allocated them to NFL Europa.
Humes, an ’06 seventh-rounder, lacks ideal speed. Arkansas RB Decori Birmingham was also allocated. Davis was a Steelers draftee in 2006.
