Auburn senior LB Chandler Wooten will take a redshirt after opting out of the fall campaign.
Wooten (6'2/228) will be returning to Auburn next season, but for now, the team will have to manage without him. The senior linebacker logged 25 tackles (4.5 for loss) and an interception for the past campaign. Auburn will have to find another depth cog to push up in Wooten’s place now that he’s said so long to football in 2020.

  • Auburn junior LB Chandler Wooten (right knee) is expected to be ready by the season opener against Oregon after suffering a right knee injury during the A-Day Game.
Wooten (6'2/228) was helped off the field by team trainers, and while HC Gus Malzahn provided no update regarding the linebacker’s status he did say that he expects all injured players to be healthy for the season opener against Oregon. “No, no updates as far as there was a couple things they did, minor things,” Malzahn said Wednesday, “but we expect everybody to be back for the first game at this point.” Wooten will look to earn more playing time after appearing in just five games in 2018, tallying ten total tackles.
  • Auburn junior LB Chandler Wooten suffered an apparent right knee injury during the first half of Saturday’s A-Day Game.
Auburn got out of its annual spring game relatively healthy, with Wooten (6'2/228) being the exception. The severity of the junior linebacker’s injury is unknown, but missing a significant amount of time could make it difficult for him to earn more playing time in 2019. Last season Wooten appeared in five games, tallying ten total tackles.
