Former NFL receiver Chandler Williams died on Saturday while playing flag football.
Williams, 27, died of natural causes. He was a seventh-round draft pick of the Vikings in 2007 out of Florida International. Williams was a current member of the AFL’s Tampa Bay Storm and had spent time with the Chiefs, Dolphins, and Falcons as recently as the summer of 2011.
  • KC Wide Receiver
    Chiefs waived WR Chandler Williams.
Undrafted rookie tight end T.C. Drake was also released after both players participated in last weekend’s rookie minicamp. Williams was a 2007 seventh-round pick by the Vikings who spent time on the Chiefs practice squad last season.
  • KC Wide Receiver
Dolphins added WR Chandler Williams, WR Kerry Reed and G Tala Esera to their practice squad.
Reed was on the team’s original 53-man roster, but was released when the team added Greg Camarillo from San Diego. Williams was drafted and cut by the Vikings and Esera was one of Miami’s final cuts.
  • KC Wide Receiver
Vikings signed seventh-round wide receiver Chandler Williams, a Florida International product, to a four-year contract.
Williams runs in the low 4.4s and produced all four years at FIU but is small and doesn’t look like much more than a returner. The Vikings have a lot of bodies at the wide receiver position and Williams is buried to start his career.
  • KC Wide Receiver
Dolphins signed WR Chandler Williams, G Marquay Love, and LB Marcello Church to reserve/future contracts.
Williams will be looked at as a returner this offseason, and has a chance to make the 2008 club if the Dolphins want Ted Ginn to focus on receiving.
  • ATL Defensive Back
    Falcons cut S Erick Brock.
He’s a practice squad player. The Falcons also released cornerback Glenn Sharpe, offensive tackle Adam Speer, offensive guard Ryan Stanchek, cornerback Tony Tiller, center Ben Wilkerson, and wide receiver Chandler Williams.
  • NYJ Tight End
Falcons waived TE Keith Zinger, CB Wilrey Fontenot, WR Chandler Williams, WR Eric Weems, LB Mickey Pimentel, CB Glenn Sharpe, S Daren Stone, S Eric Brock, and OT Michael Butterworth.
Zinger and Fontenot were both draft picks this offseason. Atlanta is rather short on safeties after Stone’s release.
  • KC Wide Receiver
Falcons signed WR Chandler Williams, formerly of the Dolphins.
Williams, a 2007 seventh-round pick, is a speedster with some kick return potential. But he faces long odds in a relatively deep Falcons WR corps.
  • BAL Quarterback
Dolphins waived QB Casey Bramlet, S Tuff Harris, LB Mark Washington, WR Kerry Reed, DB Jereme Perry, LB Marcello Church, and WR Chandler Williams.
Not much interesting here. The Ravens could put in a waiver claim for Reed, who was a favorite of new offensive coordinator Cam Cameron last season. Williams was the Vikings’ 2007 seventh-round pick.
  • TEN Running Back
Chiefs signed RB Kestahn Moore, OL Jermail Porter, WR Chandler Williams, DE Bobby Greenwood, and DB Jackie Bates to reserve/future contracts.
Moore underachived at Florida, where he never saw more than 54 carries in a season. Williams is the only player here that was drafted out of college.
