    Jets’ GM Terry Bradway has reportedly been demoted.
    The Jets have announced there will be a “major” press conference at 3PM ET today. Its supposedly to announce that Bradway is out and assistant GM Mike Tannenbaum is in, at least on an interim basis. Bradway still has two years on his contract and will probably stay with the team in a diminished role.

    Newsday reports that there is a long way to go in Chad Pennington’s contract extension talks.
    Pennington has set a Sept. first deadline to sign the deal or enter next offseason as a free agent.

    Chad Pennington is on the verge of signing the 2nd richest contract in NFL history.
    The agreement could come as early as today. The New York QB expects to earn $22 million in guaranteed money over six or seven years. It would give ING agent Tom Condon five of the six richest contracts in the sport.

    There are strong indications that Chad Pennington’s contract negotiations could be close to a breakthrough.
    Pennington’s deal is expected to fall somewhere between the contracts given to Peyton and Eli Manning.

    Herm Edwards wavered on Pennington’s recovery time. He said Pennington could miss 2-4 weeks, but would be evaluated “week-to-week.” Later in the presser, Edwards said Pennington is a fast healer and may try to play in “a week or two.” Look for Curtis Martin to be a focal point of the offense. This hurts Santana Moss and Justin McCareins short-term value. We’ll update with details to follow.

    No surprise there, anyone watchin Pennington can tell he’s not right. Despite a fine matchup, Pennington isn’t explosive enough to be a good fantasy starter this weekend.

    The paper interviews a New York area surgeon who believes Pennington may have a partial tear in his shoulder. Keep in mind, this surgeon hasn’t actually examined Pennington. He just watched tape. Anything to sell papers.

    Even if that’s the case, it doesn’t appear likely that he’ll be able to play in week twelve.
