Lions tight end Casey Fitzsimmons left Saturday night’s game with a concussion.
Fitzsimmons has reportedly been outplaying starter Stephen Alexander in training camp. The two tight ends will cancel out each other’s fantasy value.
  • Lions TE Casey FitzSimmons is believed to have a fractured wrist.
FitzSimmons, Detroit’s starter throughout training camp, was injured in the team’s preseason opener Friday night. Marcus Pollard is the favorite to start in his place.
  • TE Casey FitzSimmons injured his wrist in Detroit’s exhibition opener.
Head coach Rod Marinelli said FitzSimmons would undergo x-rays to determine the seriousness of the injury. FitzSimmons had been starting.
  • Lions TE Casey Fitzsimmons is expected to miss the early portion of the season.
He is expected to miss 1-3 games. The Lions, who are also waiting for free agent signee Dan Campbell to get healthy, may pick up a tight end in the meantime. Marcus Pollard will get his starting job back for now.
  • DET Head Coach
Lions TE Dan Campbell is out indefinitely after an MRI revealed he has a serious injury to his elbow.
The Lions’ offense doesn’t utilize tight ends for pass receiving purposes. Either Casey FitzSimmons or Sean McHugh will step in as the starter.
  • DET Head Coach
Lions placed TE Dan Campbell on injured reserve, ending his season, and signed TE Rudy Sylvan off their practice squad.
Sylvan, who played collegiately at Ohio and went undrafted in April, will become the backup for new starter Casey FitzSimmons. Campbell is due $1.8 million in 2008 and may be in danger of being cut in the offseason.
  • DET Head Coach
Lions TE Dan Campbell has been rehabbing an elbow injury this offseason.
Sean McHugh has taken his spot with the ones. Campbell caught 21 passes for a career-high 308 yards but doesn’t figure to have fantasy value in 2007, as he’ll constantly be competing for playing time and lacks big-play potential.
  • DET Running Back
Lions terminated the contract of RB/FB Shawn Bryson.
Bryson failed his pre-camp physical. Detroit had planned for Bryson to be its top fullback in 2007, but that job will likely now fall to Casey FitzSimmons.
