Franks is getting up in age and this could be the beginning of the end for him in Green Bay.

He’s a solid option this weekend. Minnesota has backups playing at safety, and their linebackers can’t cover.

The injury looked serious, but the Packers expect him to be available throughout the playoffs.

The one-year tag is worth $2.095 million. The Packers saved $600,000 by not franchising Franks. They have the right to match any competing offer for Franks, but would get no compensation if he left. He’s likely to stay and maintain his questionable fantasy value for another year.

He had been suffering from chest pain. He should be fine.

It’s a good sign for Franks that the team wants him signed long-term and the two sides are talking. Franks reportedly wants $4 million a year.

Franks hasn’t signed his one-year contract as the team’s ‘transition’ player. He’s expected to show up before the end of the preseason. Since our projection is fairly low for Franks, we won’t adjust it.

Franks, who has played in all 80 regular-season games and six playoff games of his five-year career, isn’t in training camp after being named the team’s transition player Feb. 28 to keep him off the free-agent market. He’s only worth taking in late rounds at this point.

We suggest only using Bubba Franks as a bye week tight end for now.
