Miami redshirt junior S Bubba Bolden (shoulder) is out for the year after hurting his shoulder against Virginia and aggravating it in the past two games.
Bolden was the leading tackler on the team, but will now miss the rest of the season. Bolden projects as one of the top safeties in the upcoming draft, but has suffered two season ending injuries now, with an ankle injury taking him out in 2019. Miami is coming off a great win against North Carolina State, but have suffered many key injuries this year and Bolden is no exception.

Miami redshirt junior S Bubba Bolden was ejected from Saturday’s game against Alabama for targeting.
Bolden (6'3/204) dipped his head to deliver a blow to the head of an Alabama ball-carrier and, as a result, his afternoon came to an early end. It goes without saying that this is a big loss for the Hurricanes, who are lacking in experience behind one of the top safeties in college football. Bolden will be good to go from the start next week when Miami hosts Appalachian State.

PFN’s Oliver Hodgkinson considers Miami redshirt junior S Bubba Bolden the fifth best 2022 NFL Draft safety prospect.
Bolden (6'3/200) kicked off his Miami collegiate career as a member of USC before transferring to Miami in 2019. He battled academic issues in 2019 before injuring his ankle, cutting his season short. He finally emerged in 2020, recording 74 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 1.0 sack, one interception and three PBU. Bolden played the majority of his snaps at free-safety while allowing a 116.6 NFL passer rating against and profiles as a sure tackler who is versatile enough to line up anywhere in the secondary.

Miami redshirt sophomore S Bubba Bolden (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, per HC Manny Diaz.
Just as Bolden (6'3/200) was starting to hit his stride, he suffers a seemingly benign injury that ends his season. Bolden happened to injure his ankle during a celebration following an interception and it kept him out for the rest of Saturday’s game. Given the nature of the injury, it was assumed to be minor, but Diaz confirmed it was serious enough to shut him down for the year. Bolden had nine solo tackles and an interception on the season.
  • Safety #36
Miami redshirt sophomore S Bubba Bolden was taken to the locker room during the third quarter of Saturday’s game at Florida State after suffering a lower right leg injury.
Bolden (6'3/200), who picked up the first interception of his Miami career on the play, was unable to put any weight on his right leg while being helped to the locker room to undergo X-rays. We’ll have an update on his status for the remainder of Saturday’s game as that information becomes available, but it appears unlikely that the redshirt sophomore will return to action Saturday afternoon.
  • Safety #36
Miami redshirt sophomore S Bubba Bolden is starting against Pitt on Saturday.
Bolden, a former USC transfer, missed the first couple of weeks due to academic issues, and has been used as a part-time player since coming back on October 5 against Virginia Tech. At 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, he could help as a run defender as well as against the pass against the Panthers on Saturday.

Miami HC Manny Diaz said following Saturday’s win over Bethune-Cookman that redshirt sophomore S Bubba Bolden has been cleared to make his debut Oct. 5 vs. Virginia Tech.
Bolden (6'3/200), a highly regarded transfer from USC, missed the first two weeks of fall camp as he had to take care of his academic responsibilities before officially joining the Miami program. Per Diaz, the team learned just before the Hurricanes’ loss at North Carolina that the redshirt sophomore will be available to compete beginning with the Oct. 5 game vs. Virginia Tech. Miami, which hosts Central Michigan Sept. 21 before its second open week of the season, lacks depth at both cornerback and safety. Getting Bolden cleared will give Miami a needed boost depth-wise.
  • Safety #36
According to Manny Navarro of The Athletic, Miami redshirt sophomore S Bubba Bolden did not have his helmet or pads during warmups for Saturday’s game vs. Florida.
Bolden (6'3/200), who was able to officially join the Miami program in early August after taking care of his academic responsibilities following a transfer from USC, is eligible to play. But he missed nearly two weeks of practice, which likely put the redshirt sophomore in a tough spot when it comes to be prepared enough to be a contributor in Saturday’s opener. There have been no reports of a possible injury leading into the matchup with Florida.

Miami redshirt sophomore S Bubba Bolden has been officially added to the team’s online roster.
Bolden (6'3/200) had some coursework to complete before being able to make his transfer to Miami official, so he was not available for the start of fall camp as a result. The redshirt sophomore watched Wednesday’s practice from the sidelines, and it’s going to take some time for him to get up to speed given the fact that Miami opened fall camp on July 25. At the very least, he’ll provide additional depth in the secondary this fall.
  • Safety #36
Miami HC Manny Diaz said Thursday that sophomore S Bubba Bolden won’t be on campus when fall camp begins next Thursday.
Bolden, who’s transferring to Miami from USC, won’t be available as he’s finishing up his coursework. The sophomore safety was originally handed a 28-month suspension from USC for his role in an off-campus incident, but the case was ultimately reopened and the school reinstated him in December. Once he finishes up his final classes, Bolden will then join the Miami program.
