Saints signed Tennessee CB Bryce Thompson.
Thompson (5'11/182) was a three-year starter at Tennessee who earned SEC All-Freshman honors in 2018. Thompson never quite developed beyond that, though, and failed to make any all-conference selections after that. With eight interceptions and 11 pass breakups over his three seasons, Thompson’s playstyle is best described as “live by the sword, die by the sword.” Thompson is aggressive in every sense of the word and will trigger early for the chance of sneaking an interception. That, of course, got him burned quite often as well, which was an issue made worse by him having no athletic traits to speak of to make up ground. Thompson tested below the 40th percentile in all major drills, including a 10th percentile three-cone drill. Thompson’s forward aggression and willingness to tackle makes him a Cover 2 corner who may end up moving to strong safety in the league.
