In his first news conference since August camps began, Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh said that sophomore DT Bryan Mone suffered his broken ankle on a “freak play.”
“I’ve never seen it before in a practice or games,” Harbaugh told reporters. Apparently, Mone suffered the broken leg while working to clear a path for one of his teammates after a blocked field goal. His leg snagged on the turf at an “inopportune angle,” as Harbaugh phrased it, and he’s expected to miss most of (if not all of) the 2015 season. The 6-foot-4, 325-pounder suited up on a limited basis in 12 games last season, totaling nine tackles (1.5 TFL) while recovering a fumble.
