Lions selected Western Kentucky DT Brodric Martin with the No. 96 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Martin (6’5/330) was a no-star defensive tackle recruit in the 2017 recruiting class, from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Despite going to high school in the shadow of Bryant Denny Stadium, Martin never received an offer from Alabama. Instead, he spent four years at North Alabama where he honed his defensive skills. Martin is a large human that is able to keep his position while maintaining active feet. He posted 99th percentile marks with a 1.67s 10-yard split and 2.82 flying-20 while posting a promising 9.57 RAS despite doing no agility drills. At almost 24, Martin is on the older side and only has so much more room to develop. But a defensive coaching staff will likely find room for him as his dimensions are rare and his skillset is ripe for taking advantage of fatigued offensive linemen later in games.
