Washington

Washington in 2022 started nine games for Baltimore, recording 25 solo tackles. He was arrested in March 2021 and charged with destruction of property in Arlington, Texas, but returned to the Ravens shortly thereafter. Washington, a fifth round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, will likely be a rotational defensive tackle for the Ravens this season.

Washington was arrested after “multiple reports of a male suspect breaking into vehicles with a metal object” around 4:20 AM on March 14. The Ravens released a statement saying they have “spoken with Broderick about this matter and will continue to monitor the situation.” Reading between the lines, it sounds like an inebriated Washington was vandalizing vehicles. The No. 170 overall pick of last year’s draft, Washington played 161 highly-ineffective rookie snaps.

The others include OLB Jaylon Ferguson, OL Will Holden, DT Broderick Washington, CB Tavon Young and CB Khalil Dorsey. That means the Ravens have placed 18 names on the list since Monday, November 23. As of now the Ravens are scheduled to play the Steelers on Tuesday, but seemingly every day more names are added to the list, including on the Steelers’ side.

The No. 170 overall pick is the first selection to sign his rookie deal. A three-year starter at Texas Tech, Washington was named All-Big 12 honorable mention three times despite playing under four different coaches. Washington is feisty along the line, using bullrushes on passing downs and occupying space against the run, though his physicality was heightened against Big 12 competition. It may not translate at the next level, especially as a pass-rusher. Dubbed by some as a “future coach,” Washington does have obvious room for growth after being recruited as an offensive lineman.

Washington (6’2/305) was a captain and three-year versatile starter at Texas Tech who was an All-Big 12 honorable mention three times despite playing under four different coaches. He’s a physical player, using bullrushes on passing downs and occupying space against the run. However, his physicality was heightened against Big 12 competition and may not completely translate at the next level, especially as a pass-rusher, but he’s been described as a “future coach” and has room for growth after being recruited as an offensive lineman. Washington’s demeanor and physical presence are enough to profile him as a potential rotational lineman in the NFL.
