Patriots signed S Ross Ventrone, WR Britt Davis, OT Matt Kopa, DE Aaron Lavarias, LB Markell Carter, and LB Mike Rivera to reserve/futures contracts.
The Pat essentially re-signed their practice squad with an invitation to offseason workouts and training camp. Ventrone was the ultimate roster yo-yo in 2011 while Carter’s contract was doubled to keep him away from a poacher in December.
  • NE Wide Receiver #17
ESPN Boston considers WR Britt Davis a “true long shot” to crack the Patriots’ 53-man roster.
Davis was out of football last season before being signed to the Patriots’ practice squad for the playoffs. Not a particularly adept special teamer, Davis will need a wave of injuries to hit the Pats’ receiver corps to have any chance at holding his roster spot.
  • NE Wide Receiver #17
Patriots released WR Britt Davis with an injury settlement.
Davis caught a three-yard touchdown in Thursday’s preseason opener, but also suffered a minor shoulder injury. A former undrafted free agent, Davis has appeared in just three career games, all of which came in 2010 with the Broncos.
  • NYJ Running Back
Jets signed FB Jason Davis, WR Britt Davis, DB Brannon Condren, DT Matt Matt Kroul, C Michael Parenton, and DT Ty Steinkuhler to reserve/futures contracts.
All of the players spent time on the Jets’ practice squad in 2009. Davis was claimed off waivers from Chicago last summer after seeing game action with the Bears and Raiders in 2008.
  • NE Wide Receiver #17
Broncos promoted WR Britt Davis from their practice squad.
Davis gives Denver depth with Demaryius Thomas (ankle) out indefinitely.
  • NE Wide Receiver #17
    Jets waived WR Britt Davis.
Undrafted last year out of NIU, Davis couldn’t repeat the brief magic he created during his first training camp. He should pass through waivers.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Broncos signed WRs Patrick Carter and Britt Davis.
In a trade of camp fodder, WR Pat Honeycutt was waived to make room.
  • MIN Guard #72
Broncos waived OG Seth Olsen, LB Kevin Alexander, TE Riar Geer, DB Kyle McCarthy, LB Worrell Williams, DL Jeff Stehle, and WR Britt Davis.
Olsen entered the offseason as the favorite to start at left guard, but the Broncos picked up Zane Beadles in the second-round of the draft. It’s still a surprise that he didn’t even make the team. Williams is the brother of inside linebacker D.J.
