Brent Celek suffered a lower-back strain in Sunday night’s loss to the Falcons.
Celek suffered the injury on a huge hit late in the second quarter, but was able to stay in the game after missing a few series to receive treatment. He should be able to give it a go in Week 3. Targeted just 10 times through Philadelphia’s first two games, Celek is barely on the fantasy radar.
  • PHI Tight End #87
Brent Celek was forced from Sunday night’s game against the Falcons with a leg injury.
Celek took a helmet to his quad/knee area making his second catch of the evening in the second quarter. He walked off the field under his own power, and should be able to return. For now, Clay Harbor is in at tight end for the Eagles.
  • PHI Tight End #87
Brent Celek was invisible for the second straight week in Sunday’s loss to the Bills, making just one catch for six yards.
Now with just 71 yards receiving through Philadelphia’s first five games, Celek can’t even be considered a viable bye week fill-in.

Coach Andy Reid says Brent Celek (hip and hernia surgeries) will see “limited reps” in the Eagles’ mandatory June minicamp.
It’s the first quasi-update the Eagles have provided on Celek’s status since his twin January operations. Seeing as Celek will be “limited” in June, it’s quite possible he won’t be 100 percent for the beginning of training camp. Tread lightly if you’re considering Celek as a low-end TE1 in an early fantasy draft.
  • PHI Tight End #87
Eagles coach Andy Reid isn’t worried about Brent Celek’s (hip and hernia surgeries) status for the regular season, but stopped short of saying he’d be a full participant in OTAs.
“He’s actually doing very well,” Reid said. “We’ll take it easy with him and see how he does.” The Eagles have been curiously coy on Celek’s status all offseason, but there’s been nothing to suggest he won’t be ready for Week 1. Celek’s health will come into sharper focus as camp approaches.
  • PHI Tight End #87
Eagles GM Howie Roseman was “evasive” when asked about Brent Celek’s health (hip and hernia surgeries) this week.
We’ve heard nothing about Celek’s health since his January operations, and the Inquirer considers his progress “an issue worth keeping an eye on.” In the absence of evidence to the contrary, Celek should tentatively be expected to be ready for camp.
  • PHI Tight End #87
Brent Celek (hip) missed Eagles practice Thursday.
However, Celek assured beat writers he’ll be active for Monday Night Football. He should return to practice on Friday. With the Eagles’ offensive line finally settling in, Celek has been freed up in the passing game, and has led the Eagles in targets the past two weeks. He’s worth a flier if you’re searching for answers at tight end.
  • FA Running Back #25
LeSean McCoy (illness) and Brent Celek (hip) are full participants in Eagles practice Saturday.
Both are fully expected to be active for Monday night. McCoy was believed to be suffering from the stomach flu while Celek is dealing with a hip injury sustained in last week’s win over Dallas.
  • PHI Tight End #87
Brent Celek was held to 21 yards on three receptions against the Seahawks in Week 13.
He was on the receiving end of just four of Vince Young’s 29 pass attempts. Celek fought hard after the catch, but he was unable to go through or around tacklers. This was the first time in five weeks that he’s failed to top 50 yards. Celek will be a TE2 option against in Week 14 against a Miami defense vulnerable to tight ends.
  • PHI Tight End #87
Brent Celek caught five passes for 156 yards with a touchdown in the Eagles’ Week 15 blowout of the Jets.
Celek’s 26-yard touchdown in the first quarter was spectacular. He tipped the ball to himself on a crossing route, gathered it and then muscled his way into the end zone. Later, he broke wide open and got tackled one yard short of the end zone on a 73-yard catch. After a slow start to the season, Celek has averaged 5.1 catches for 69.7 yards with two touchdowns over the last eight weeks. He’s on the TE1 radar for next week’s game against the Cowboys.
