49ers selected Oklahoma TE Brayden Willis with the No. 247 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Willis (6’4/241) was a four-year contributor during his time at Oklahoma, although an injury limited him to just four games in 2020. More of an H-back than a true in-line tight end, Willis played 51 percent of his snaps from the slot or out of the backfield in his final two seasons. In his final year with the Sooners, he posted a solid line of 39-503-7 while playing 49 percent of his snaps from the slot. His efforts were enough to earn second-team All-Big 12 recognition, but he’ll have some adjusting to do at the NFL level. His underwhelming size and athleticism could lead to him being overmatched as a blocker, and it’s unlikely his production from the slot is replicated in the pros.

Oklahoma senior TE Brayden Willis has been named to the Mackey Award watch list.
Willis (6'3/237) enters his fifth season with the Sooners with the hopes of turning 2022 into his best yet. To date, he has totaled 36 receptions for 484 yards and six touchdowns, with his best performance coming last season when he went for 15-177-2. Willis will need a breakout season if he hopes to contend with some of the top TEs in the nation for the Mackey Award.

  • FA Tight End #88
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner is not expected to play in Saturday’s Big 12 Championship Game vs. Iowa State due to a leg injury.
Stogner (6'6/241), who has caught 25 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns, has been out since he injured his leg during the Sooners’ win over Kansas back on November 7. Brayden Willis and Jeremiah Hall will continue to share the responsibilities at the tight end position in Stogner’s absence.

Oklahoma junior TE Brayden Willis (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game at TCU.
Willis (6'3/236) has not appeared in a game since he was injured during the Sooners’ loss to Kansas State in September, and as of Thursday he was considered to be “week-to-week.” Oklahoma will continue to rely on Austin Stogner at tight end, and that was the case when Willis was healthy as well.

Oklahoma junior TE Brayden Willis (undsiclosed) is considered week-to-week.
Willis (6'3/236) got hurt in Oklahoma’s 38-35 loss to Kansas State, when he caught two passes for 23 yards. Willis played sparingly behind starting TE Austin Stogner who has emerged as a credible receiving threat. Last season the three-star prospect caught 11 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Oklahoma will try to secure their second Big 12 victory when they host TCU this Saturday in Norman.

Oklahoma received a verbal commitment from three-star 2018 TE Brayden Willis.
Willis (6'4/220) picks the Sooners over Arizona, Wake Forest, Boise State and a host of other schools. His size could make him a potential red zone target in time for the Sooners, although reports indicate he’ll need to put on strength before he’s ready to play/block from the tight end position.
