Scout.com reports Browns WR Brandon Rideau has reportedly struggled in minicamp season.
Rideau entered the off-season with an outside shot to win the No. 3 receiver role with Braylon Edwards out. The 2005 undrafted free agent is hardly guaranteed to make the team, however, if he practices poorly.
  • SEA Wide Receiver
Bears WR Mike Hass (2-48) hauled in both his targets as the Bears knocked off the Colts in Monday night’s preseason contest.
Hass’ competition for the sixth receiver spot, Brandon Rideau, was targeted four times and caught two of them. The winner of the battle will see most of his time on special teams and possibly the game-day inactives list.
  • CHI Wide Receiver
    Bears waived/injured WR Brandon Rideau.
Mike Hass will make the Bears if they keep six wideouts.
  • CHI Wide Receiver
Bears WR Brandon Rideau sprained his ankle in Monday night’s preseason game.
Rideau’s injury could cost him a job as Chicago’s sixth wide receiver and a special teams player. He was battling Mike Hass for the role.
  • CHI Wide Receiver
    Bears re-signed WR Brandon Rideau.
Rideau, a 6-3/200-pound special teamer from Kansas, has never caught a pass in the NFL. He’ll be on the offseason roster to push for a job next year.
  • CHI Wide Receiver
The Bears are expected to sign WR Brandon Rideau today.
Rideau was a favorite to become the teams No. 6 receiver in camp, but injured himself in the third game of the preseason and got an injury settlement. It’s possible the Bears will place Nathan Vasher on injured reserve to make room for the speedy receiver.
  • CHI Wide Receiver
Bears WR Brandon Rideau has been taking some reps with the first-team offense during voluntary workouts.
Rideau isn’t realistically in the mix for a starting job, but flashed last summer with three preseason touchdowns and is Chicago’s biggest wideout at 6'3/198. He’s battling rookies Johnny Knox and Derek Kinder for a roster spot.
  • CHI Wide Receiver
According to beat writer Brad Biggs, Bears WR Brandon Rideau “could pick up some of the sideline routes that Justin Gage ran pretty well for the Bears at one time.”
Rideau has to make the team first. Even though he occasionally ran with the first team during spring workouts, he’s no lock for a roster spot. His size will help, but he’ll have to beat out at least explosive slot guy Johnny Knox.
  • CHI Wide Receiver
Bears WR Brandon Rideau entered training camp third on the depth chart at wide receiver behind Devin Hester and Earl Bennett.
He’s still not a lock to make the final roster. It’s surprising to see him ahead of veteran slot receiver Rashied Davis, and the rookies Juaquin Iglesias and Johnny Knox will move up the depth chart as they get comfortable in the offense.
  • FA Wide Receiver #10
As expected, Earl Bennett is listed as the starting split end on the Bears’ initial depth chart.
The second-year man is almost guaranteed to start across from Devin Hester now. Bennett barely got on the field as a rookie so his upside is limited, but he’s a nice option at the tail end of drafts. Brandon Rideau and Rashied Davis are listed as the backups, although Davis is seeing very few snaps in camp.
