Bam Childress caught three passes for 75 yards Saturday.
He played with the first unit along with Reche Caldwell, and looks certain to make the team. His play could keep Chad Jackson on the bench to open the year if Jackson can’t healthy, but Bam is a long way from fantasy relevance.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Patriots signed WR Brandon Childress from the practice squad.
Bam deserved the promotion following his impressive preseason performance. Jonathan Smith’s stay on the active roster was short.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
    Patriots released WR Bam Childress.
He’ll probably be re-signed to the practice squad.

  • PHI Wide Receiver
Patriots signed receivers Bam Childress and C.J. Jones, offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg, defensive lineman Santonio Thomas, and inside linebacker Corey Mays to their practice squad.
Since this is the Patriots we’re talking about, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of these players makes an impact at some point this season – but it won’t be for fantasy purposes.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Eagles signed WR Brandon Childress to a two-year contract.
Bam gives the Birds a return option, but will have to fight hard to make the roster in 2008. He was always an exciting preseason player in New England.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Eagles waived WR Bam Childress, LB Pago Togafau, CBs Nick Graham and Therrian Fontenot, and G Stefan Rodgers.
Childress won Super Bowl rings with New England, but never developed into an offensive asset. Fontenot and Togafau are practice squad candidates.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Patriots re-signed WR Bam Childress to a one-year contract.
The Patriots now have three receivers! He was an exclusive rights free agent and had no room to move. The practice squader will compete for a roster spot in 2006.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
The NFL is toughening their steroid policy to penalize users of amphetamines and methamphetamines more harshly in 2007.
A first-time offense will force a four-game suspension, a second-time offense will cause and eight-game suspension, and a third offense will cost a season. The players can be tested year-round. The suspensions are considerably tougher than league’s drug policy, which requires three offenses before a suspension.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Patriots WR Bam Childress caught six passes for 116 yards in New England’s preseason finale, but did have a fumble.
He’ll start the year no lower than fourth on the depth chart, assuming Deion Branch comes back. It wouldn’t shock us if Childress passes Reche Caldwell on the depth chart.
