Texans signed OG Braeden Daniels, formerly of the Commanders.
Daniels’ 2023 rookie season was derailed by a torn rotator cuff. His new landing spot will hopefully allow him to compete for a backup role for a Texans’ squad that was likewise hit by significant injuries last year. Also signed by the Texans on Thursday were TE Cole Fotheringham, WR Xavier Johnson, S Mark Perry and QB Kedon Slovis.
  • WAS Guard #79
Commanders OT Braeden Daniels (shoulder) is done for the season.
Daniels was drafted in the fourth round of this year’s draft but suffered a torn rotator cuff that will end his rookie season before it ever began. Daniels was expected to serve as added depth along an offensive line that is expected to be among the league’s worst. He’ll have a chance to compete for a meaningful role next offseason.
  • MIA Guard #66
Commanders selected Utah OL Braeden Daniels with the No. 118 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Although he lacks a bit of heft and stature, Daniels was one of the leaders of an impressively physical blocking unit for Utah. Despite his lack of height, his arms and wingspan put some of the length concerns to rest. He is a smart and safe blocker who displays adequate strength to maintain blocks and the flexibility in hips and position. He lacks the top-end athleticism that might have put him higher in the draft. Over five seasons in Salt Lake City, Daniels played a season’s worth of games at three different positions. With an outstanding RAS of 9.56, Daniels will need extensive coaching to unlock the physical skills that showcased his physicality in protecting and making holes for Cam Rising.
