Gophers junior DB Benjamin Sapp III has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Sapp came to Minnesota as a three-star recruit in the school’s 2018 signing class. Through his first two years on campus, Sapp (6'1/205) appeared in almost every game, though almost exclusively as a special teamer and backup. Sapp has yet to really see the field as a meaningful contributor and it does not look like that was going to change this year. As such, Sapp is on his way out. Sapp can redshirt this year and retain his two remaining years of eligibility for 2021 and 2022.
