Broncos signed LB Avery Williamson to the practice squad.
Denver will make Williamson’s fourth team in the last two seasons. He most recently logged 22 snaps in Weeks 7 and 8 with the Titans before being released. We expect him to eventually play a handful of snaps on the active roster since the Broncos remain decimated in their front-seven.

Steelers LB Robert Spillane (knee) will miss “some time.”
Pittsburgh’s defense will be without Spillane, who replaced the injured Devin Bush (torn ACL). Spillane was injured in the team’s Week 13 loss to Washington. Already without Bud Dupree (knee) for the rest of the season, the Steelers linebacker group has been decimated by injuries. LB Avery Williamson, acquired just before the NFL’s trade deadline, will be the next linebacker up if Spillane misses a game or two. Opposing tight ends might have an easier time against the Steelers in the coming weeks. Logan Thomas roasted the Steelers on Monday, catching nine balls for 98 yards and a score.

Steelers acquired ILB Avery Williamson and a 2022 seventh-round pick from the Jets in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round pick.
This is as close to a giveaway as you can come without it actually qualifying. 28-year-old Williamson has played 299 snaps this season after missing Week 1 as he completed his recovery from a torn ACL. He hasn’t exactly been “good,” but everything is colored by being on the Jets. The ex-Titan has an interception but zero sacks. He will presumably both grade and produce better in an elite defense looking to make up for Devin Bush’s lost snaps.

The New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta reports the Jets and Steelers are “working towards” completing a trade for ILB Avery Williamson.
The Steelers are two weeks removed from losing Devin Bush to a torn ACL, and the 0-8 Jets are more tanked than ever. Compensation won’t be more than a Day 3 pick, but 28-year-old Williamson has been providing decent-ish snaps since returning from a torn ACL of his own. The Jets could trade multiple players over the next 48 hours.

Jets LB Avery Williamson (knee) was ruled out for Week 1 against the Bills.
Williamson still isn’t recovered from the ACL tear that cost him all of last season. This matchup continues setting up in Buffalo’s favor as the Jets will be without their top-three off ball linebackers in CJ Mosley, Patrick Onwuasor, and Williamson for Week 1.

Jets restructured LB Avery Williamson’s contract.
Williamson was initially due $4.75 million in 2020 but will instead receive $1 million guaranteed with the potential to total $5 million in incentives. The move ultimately saves the Jets $3 million in cash and $3.75 million in cap space. Initially speculated to be released during New York’s final cuts, this (surprising) development ensures Williamson plays out his final year with the team before hitting the market as an unrestricted free agent in 2021.

Jets placed ILB Avery Williamson (knee) on the active/PUP list.
Williamson still isn’t recovered from the ACL tear that cost him all of 2019. The Athletic’s Connor Hughes speculated in April that Williamson will be a candidate for release once he passes his physical. The Jets could clear $6.5 million they need to get into COVID cap compliance over the next two years.

The Athletic’s Connor Hughes wonders if Jets ILB Avery Williamson (knee) will be released once healthy.
Williamson is entering the final year of his three-year deal and missed all of last season with a torn ACL suffered in the preseason. Williamson carries an $8.5 million cap number, and the Jets can save $6.5 million of that by releasing him. They just have to wait until he can pass a physical. The Jets are loaded at inside linebacker, returning C.J. Mosley, Neville Hewitt, and James Burgess while adding Patrick Onwuasor. Williamson being cut seems like a no-brainer move.

Avery Williamson’s MRI confirmed a torn ACL in his right knee.
The injury occurred when Williamson collided with teammate Tevaughn Campbell during Thursday’s preseason game in Atlanta. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirms that Williamson will miss all of 2019. It’s a big loss for the Jets as Williamson, the team’s defensive play-caller, was credited with a team-high 121 tackles last season while earning PFF’s No. 8 run-stopping grade among inside linebackers.

Titans signed No. 151 overall pick ILB Avery Williamson to a four-year contract.
Williamson (6-foot-1, 246 pounds) posted a 4.66 40-yard dash to go along with a 10-foot broad jump at the Combine. He should have the necessary burst to man Mike ‘backer in the pros. Williamson is not a great athlete, however, and struggled in coverage for Kentucky. He’s a two-down prospect who will start off on special teams.
