Colts coach Shane Steichen said WR Ashton Dulin (hamstring) will “miss some time.”
The Colts later placed Dulin on injured reserve. Dulin’s major fantasy football impact this year was mainly keeping Adonai Mitchell on the bench in Week 5, but this leaves the Colts thin behind their top three receivers and should keep their snap counts high in Week 13 against the Texans.
  • IND Wide Receiver #16
Colts WR Ashton Dulin (chest) is practicing in full for Week 8’s game against the Titans.
With Josh Downs (concussion) expected back, Dulin will only be Indy’s WR4. He may see more snaps than usual if the Colts create a(nother) blowout of the Titans, but Dulin won’t be a recommended FLEX play in this scenario. Tyler Goodson (groin) also practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • IND Wide Receiver #1
Colts declared WR Josh Downs, WR Ashton Dulin, TE Will Mallory, RB Tyler Goodson, DT Eric Johnson II, S Reuben Lowery III and OT Luke Tenuta inactive for Week 7 against the Chargers.
Downs (concussion) and Dulin (chest) were sidelined all week. Their absences give embattled WR Adonai Mitchell a chance to prove himself after costing the Colts a win with his celebratory, goal-line fumble in Week 4. Mitchell cannot be trusted to return FLEX value, though. Expect Daniel Jones to rely heavily on WR Michael Pittman Jr. and TE Tyler Warren.
  • IND Wide Receiver #1
Colts WR Josh Downs (concussion) will not play in Indianapolis’ Week 7 game against the Chargers.
Ditto Ashton Dulin (chest) — this should push Alec Pierce into a top-three role in the pecking order for sure this week, and perhaps unearth Adonai Mitchell from the sealed space garbage can where Shane Steichen placed him following his goal-line turnover against the Rams. Pierce is a viable FLEX option against a Chargers defense that has struggled to take care of business of late.
  • IND Wide Receiver #16
Colts WR Ashton Dulin (chest) was not seen practicing on Thursday.
Both Dulin and slot receiver Josh Downs (concussion) were not present during the portion of practice that is open to the media. Dulin could still get on the field this weekend by returning to practice on Friday, but both players appear to be heading toward a Week 7 absence. Embattled second-year WR Adonai Mitchell could get a chance to rebound from his costly Week 4 fumble.
  • IND Wide Receiver #16
Colts WR Ashton Dulin (chest) did not participate in Wednesdays’ practice.
Dulin took over the WR4 role for the Colts in Week 6, though he did not record a target against the Cardinals. Interestingly enough, he did record a pass rush rep on defense. He starts out this week not practicing due to a chest injury. With Josh Downs (concussion) also out, Adonai Mitchell might find his way back into the lineup Week 7 against the Chargers. Also out for Wednesday was RB Tyler Goodson (groin).
  • IND Wide Receiver #14
Colts WR Alec Pierce (ankle) is practicing in full for Week 7 against the Chargers.
Pierce returned in Week 6 after a two-game absence following his Week 3 concussion. He evidently picked up a minor ankle injury along the way, though he does not appear to be at risk of missing any time. The Colts’ field-stretching wide receiver will be called upon to generate explosive gains against the Chargers this weekend. Colts slot WR Josh Downs (concussion) and rotational WR Ashton Dulin (chest) did not practice on Wednesday.
  • IND Wide Receiver #16
Colts re-signed WR Ashton Dulin to a two-year contract worth up to $8.5 million.
Dulin, coming off a torn ACL that cost his the entire 2023 campaign, had just two receptions for Indy in 2024. He was mostly relegated to special teams duty after seeing some receiver usage before his 2023 knee injury. Going into his age-28 season, Dulin will remain a rotational wideout for the Colts in 2025.
  • IND Wide Receiver #14
Colts declared QB Sam Ehlinger, CB Chris Lammons, DE Isaiah Land, G Atonio Mafi, WR Alec Pierce, LB EJ Speed, and G Dalton Tucker inactive for Week 16 against the Titans.
Pierce was declared out on Friday due to a concussion he suffered in Week 15. Fellow WR Ashton Dulin (ankle) is active and in line for increased snaps with Pierce out. TE Mo Alie-Cox (hip) and K Matt Gay (neck) are also active while LB EJ Speed (knee) is the Colts’ other injury inactive.
  • IND Wide Receiver #1
Colts HC Shane Steichen had no update on Josh Downs (ankle) status for Week 2.
Downs was ruled out Friday for the opener against the Texans, and all Steichen mentioned was that the wideout will be “monitored” for the week. The 23-year-old seems likely to also be out of action as well for Sunday’s Week 2 tilt against the Packers, which means more snaps for Adonai Mitchell, Alec Pierce and Ashton Dulin.
