Seahawks re-signed CB Artie Burns to the practice squad.
This is the third Burns-related transaction for the Seahawks in the last four days. The former rotational player rejoins a Seahawks team he initially signed with in 2022. Burns is unlikely to vault into a high-volume rotational role but he could chip in here and there.
  • SEA Cornerback #23
Seahawks placed CB Artie Burns (toe) on injured reserve.
He left Thursday night’s loss to the 49ers — his only game so far this year — and did not return. Burns, 29, had two passes defensed and one tackle in the game. Seattle will need to find another depth corner.
  • SEA Cornerback #23
Seahawks CB Artie Burns suffered a toe injury in Seattle’s Week 6 game against the 49ers and will not return.
Burns was just elevated to the active roster before the game. His loss is bad news for a secondary that lost Tre Brown earlier in the contest.
  • SEA Linebacker #10
Seahawks declared LB Uchenna Nwosu, C Jalen Sundell, G Sataoa Laumea, T Michael Jerrell, TE Pharoah Brown, DE Myles Adams and CB Artie Burns inactive for Week 1 against the Broncos.
Nwosu is expected to miss multiple weeks with his MCL Sprain. Brown is also unavailable for Sunday’s opener due to a foot injury, but has a chance to return for Week 2 against the Patriots.
  • SEA Cornerback #23
Seahawks agreed to terms with CB Artie Burns on a one-year contract.
Burns is back on his third one-year deal in Seattle after initially joining the team in 2022. He didn’t see much run in his first season with the team but took on a part-time role as a slot corner last year. Burns also pitched in on special teams, logging 181 special teams snaps. He finished the year with 23 total tackles and two pass breakups.
  • SEA Cornerback #8
Seahawks CB Coby Bryant (toe) missed practice on Wednesday.
In addition to Bryant, CB Tariq Woolen (chest) and S Julian Love (hamstring) also missed practice. Woolen was already reported to likely miss Week 3 and Bryant and Love’s injuries leave Seattle’s secondary thin. The team promoted CB Artie Burns from its practice squad to remedy the injuries for a Week 3 matchup against the Panthers.
  • SEA Cornerback #23
According to Adam Schefter, the Seattle Seahawks promoted Artie Burns from their practice squad to their active roster.
Burns had been a practice squad elevation the first two games of the season, but with the Seahawks reaching their limit on his elevations, they decided to sign him to the active roster. The former first-round pick played four seasons for the Steelers before suffering a torn ACL. He played for the Bears in 2021 and was with the Seahawks briefly in 2022 before the team brought him back this offseason. He will operate as secondary depth.
  • SEA Cornerback #23
Seahawks re-signed CB Artie Burns to a one-year contract.
Burns appeared in just one game in 2022, playing 16 defensive snaps in Week 5. The former first-round pick played four seasons for the Steelers before missing the 2020 season with a torn ACL. He was then signed by the Bears and played in a utility role in the secondary during the 2021 season. Expect Burns to be utilized in a similar fashion with the Seahawks for the coming season, with multiple injuries being his likeliest path to playing time.

  • SEA Cornerback #23
Seahawks declared CB Artie Burns, CB Justin Coleman, S Joey Blount, RT Jake Curhan, WR Dareke Young, and DT Myles Adams inactive for Week 2 against the 49ers.
Burns is out with a groin injury. The Seahawks are without a handful of corners for this game, making them an easy target for Trey Lance. If Lance is going to turn things around, this is the spot to do it.

  • SEA Cornerback #23
Seahawks signed CB Artie Burns, formerly of the Bears, to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Seattle appears to be headed towards full rebuild mode, but they still need bodies in the secondary, especially after losing D.J. Reed in free agency. Burns has not been a full-time starter since his early days in Pittsburgh, but he is a former first-round pick who played well when called upon last year in Chicago. This could be a bargain for the Seahawks.
