Packers undrafted free agent RB Arliss Beach has a chance to make the team’s roster.
Beach has received kudos all off-season, then led the team with 50 yards on nine carries Saturday. “I think he’s a young man that has a bright future,” coach Mike McCarthy said. Samkon Gado, Najeh Davenport, and Noah Herron can’t like hearing that.
  • CLE Running Back
The Packers are expected to keep only three running backs this season.
P.J. Pope and Arliss Beach are most likely the odd men out with Vernand Morency and Brandon Jackson pretty secure. That would leave Noah Herron and seventh-round rookie DeShawn Wynn fighting for the third and final spot.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #74
Aaron Kampman underwent arthroscopic knee surgery this offseason.
Kampman, coming off an All-Pro caliber season, will be limited in Green Bay’s upcoming minicamp along with Abdul Hodge (knee), Arliss Beach (foot), and Robert Ferguson (foot). Kevin Barry (quadriceps) will likely sit out.
  • HOU Running Back
    Packers released RB Arliss Beach.
He spent last year on injured reserve after a decent summer as an undrafted free agent.
  • HOU Running Back
Cowboys agreed to terms with RB Arliss Beach.
The former Packer probably won’t make the practice squad or the team’s final roster. Tyson Thompson appears locked in as Dallas’ third tailback, with either Jackie Battle or Alonzo Coleman heading to the practice team.
  • HOU Running Back
The Cowboys had free agent RB Arliss Beach in for a workout on Wednesday.
Beach, who was cut by the Packers in June, could add depth for the remainder of training camp with Jackie Battle battling a foot/ankle injury.
  • HOU Running Back
Texans signed RB Arliss Beach to their practice squad.
Beach was last in Dallas training camp, but couldn’t take down Tyson Thompson for a roster spot. The Texans will get first dibs on signing him to a reserve/future contract later this winter.
  • HOU Running Back
Packers placed RB Arliss Beach (high ankle sprain), T Josh Bourke and CB Mike Hawkins on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
Beach impressed and the team’s use of injured reserve for him may be their only way to retain his rights without cutting a Noah Herron. The undrafted rook from Kentucky will be competing for a spot in 2007.
  • NO Running Back
DeShawn Wynn suffered a calf strain at Friday’s minicamp practice.
Wynn struggled with injuries throughout his career at Florida. He’s battling Arliss Beach and P.J. Pope for a roster spot in Green Bay.
  • HOU Running Back
Packers GM Ted Thompson described second-year halfbacks Arliss Beach and P.J. Pope as “just young guys who need a chance.”
Beach may have made the active roster in training camp last year before suffering a high ankle sprain. Pope was an in-season signee from the Bears’ practice squad. We still think Green Bay drafts a first-day runner.
