Harris

The running back is getting most of his work this season returning kickoffs.

There’s no room for Harris in the backfield with the addition of Steven Jackson to the backfield. He’ll have to bulk up from his 212 lb. playing weight.

Harris will share the job with Joey Goodspeed and is out of the running back rotation.

Harris rushed seven times for 36 yards and caught a 20-yard TD from Dan Orlovsky. Neither Shawn Bryson nor Brian Calhoun had a touch.

It’s very surprising news, but its also only June. Rookie Brian Calhoun and Shawn Bryson would seemingly have far more skills than Harris, who has the advantage of knowing Mike Martz’s system from St. Louis. We expect Harris to slide once his teammates catch up with their learning.

Harris appeared to be climbing the depth chart in the preseason. Mike Martz has a soft spot for the special teamer, but he probably won’t garner much interest from anyone else in the league, maybe from Buffalo and former coordinator Steve Fairchild. It’s a vote of confidence for rookie Brian Calhoun.

Harris is a non-factor in St. Louis this year as the No. 3 running back.

The Rams have enviable depth. Harris is only worth grabbing if Steven Jackson or Marshall Faulk are injured.
