The San Francisco Chronicle says the Raiders don’t view TEs David Ausberry and Richard Gordon as starting-caliber players.
Oakland is set to lose Brandon Myers in free agency, and they’re going to need a replacement. Ausberry and Gordon aren’t those guys. The Chronicle says free agents Anthony Fasano and Kevin Boss “might want to keep their cell line open.”

Anthony Fasano caught five passes for 82 yards in Week 1 against the Patriots.
Fasano was outstanding, especially on a 25-yard one-handed reception that will be all over Tuesday’s highlight countdowns. Chad Henne showed a lot of confidence in Fasano throughout the game, but there are still plenty of better options fantasy wise. He’s no more than a middle of the road TE2.
  • MIA Tight End #80
Dolphins TE Anthony Fasano was held without a catch against the Texans in Week 2.
Typical Fasano. He followed up an 82-yard performance in the opener by concentrating on blocking in Week 2. Fasano was targeted on just two of Chad Henne’s 30 pass attempts. He’s not worthy of a roster spot in 12-team leagues.

New Dolphins TE Les Brown hinted that the team would be running more two-tight end sets in 2012.
A change in offensive philosophy is hardly a surprise after a coaching change and Brandon Marshall trade. That said, Miami already ranked ninth in two-tight end sets in 2011, and new coach Joe Philbin’s Packers ranked 15th. An underwhelming quarterback and receiver situation may explain the plan to lean heavier on tight ends. Anthony Fasano and Charles Clay won’t have trouble finding snaps.
  • MIA Tight End #80
New coach Joe Philbin hinted that TE Anthony Fasano will maintain a significant offensive role in 2012.
“I really thought Fasano played well. I thought he caught the football well,” said Philbin. "... We like what we saw there.” There had been early offseason speculation that Fasano’s roster spot was in jeopardy with a $3.6 million salary. Philbin’s comments suggest he’s safe after all.

Interim coach Todd Bowles deemed Anthony Fasano “questionable” to face the Patriots after his Thursday diagnosis of a “mild concussion.”
“The tests came back and he does have a mild concussion (that) he didn’t have (Wednesday),” Bowles said. “He has a low-grade concussion, so they’re monitoring him. He’s questionable right now. Those things can go either way.” Fasano went through stretching Thursday but did not practice. He’s headed toward a game-time decision.
  • MIA Tight End #80
The Dolphins have ruled out Anthony Fasano (concussion) for Week 16.
Fasano couldn’t pass his protocol concussion tests in time. We suppose rookie H-back Charles Clay could be worth a look in extreme deep leagues or for incredibly desperate fantasy owners. Fasano figures to be back for the finale.
  • MIA Tight End #80
Interim coach Todd Bowles confirmed TE Anthony Fasano has been diagnosed with a “mild concussion.”
The Dolphins will “monitor” Fasano after missing Wednesday’s practice. As of now, he’s “questionable” to face the Patriots on Sunday. H-back type Charles Clay would likely pick up snaps if Fasano can’t play, though he’s too risky to use as a top-20 TE option.
  • MIA Tight End #80
Anthony Fasano (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
Fasano likely just got a maintenance day yesterday. Though he’s been better of late, Fasano is averaging 1.6 catches for 27.7 yards on the season.
  • MIA Tight End #80
Anthony Fasano (ankle) was held out of Dolphins practice Wednesday.
Fasano was spotted at the Fins’ facility in a baseball cap instead of a helmet and with his right ankle “heavily taped.” His Week 11 status is unknown.
