  • HOU Running Back
Bears signed RB Andre Hall, formerly of the Buccaneers.
Hall, an undrafted rookie, was cut by his hometown team in July. He’ll have a better chance at making the team in Chicago.
  • HOU Running Back
Rookie RB Andre Hall is getting a chance to return punts.
Hall has excellent speed but, in his quest to make the Bucs, may have to overtake Derek Watson and/or Earnest Graham in depth.
  • DEN Running Back
Despite a previous report that Travis Henry (ribs, questionable) returned to practice Friday, the Denver Post reports Henry missed the workout.
The Broncos’ website confirms the news. Denver is expected to go with Selvin Young as the starter if Henry sits out against Green Bay Monday night, and Andre Hall would be rotated in. More should be known on Henry’s status Saturday. Champ Bailey also missed his third straight workout Friday and is considered closer to doubtful than his “questionable” tag suggests.
  • DEN Running Back
Travis Henry (ribs) returned to Broncos practice Friday, but is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Packers.
Since the teams square off on Monday night, Henry has an extra day for his body to heal. That he made it through a workout is promising, and we should get more information on Henry’s status Saturday or Sunday. Selvin Young would start and Andre Hall would be active if Henry can’t go vs. Green Bay.
  • HOU Running Back
Cecil Sapp has been playing primarily at tailback during OTAs in Denver.
“Cecil has great running skills,” assistant HC/offense Mike Heimerdinger says. It looks like Sapp has made the conversion to tailback from fullback and is probably the favorite to be the number three runner behind Travis Henry and Mike Bell, which puts him on the fantasy radar. Second-year player Andre Hall and rookie Selvin Young are also in the mix.
  • HOU Running Back
If Travis Henry is suspended for the rest of the season, the Broncos are expected to use a tailback rotation of Andre Hall and Selvin Young.
The Denver Post points out that Young is slender and more fit for a change-of-pace role; his former coaches at Texas would agree. Hall is smaller but more compact with better long speed. With Mike Bell and Cecil Sapp also candidates for carries, Young may not be guaranteed a feature back role.
  • DEN Running Back
Selvin Young is in position to start for the Denver Broncos if Travis Henry is suspended by the league for violating the substance abuse policy.
There are still many details to be learned, but Henry is at risk of missing the rest of the season. In his limited time, Young has looked very impressive, averaging almost ten yards-per-touch and often bowling over defenders. Young would be projected as a top-15 back as long as he held the starting job. Andre Hall would move into the backup slot, while Mike Bell and Cecil Sapp are candidates to move back to tailback.
  • DEN Running Back
When and if Travis Henry is suspended, the Denver Post believes Selvin Young and Andre Hall will become running backs 1A and 1B, respectively.
Beat writer Mike Klis in a Q and A compares the situation to 2005, when Mike Anderson rushed for 1,014 yards and Tatum Bell gained 921. Klis also writes that “there is some optimism in Dove Valley” that Henry will get away without being suspended. A decision could be handed down by mid-November.
  • HOU Running Back
Broncos FB Cecil Sapp (broken leg) is participating at OTAs.
The team is planning for Sapp to take on more of a role as a runner out of the backfield this year, and he could be the third option behind Travis Henry and Mike Bell. Kyle Johnson and Paul Smith are candidates to start at fullback.
  • DET Running Back
Mike Bell has reclaimed his role as the Broncos’ No. 2 running back.
It was inevitable. Bell’s skills will be a nice complement to Travis Henry, as he should see action in short-yardage situations and on third downs. Andre Hall and Cecil Sapp are now fighting for third-string duties. Bell can be drafted as a late RB4 in all leagues.
