Vikings signed Army EDGE Andre Carter.
Carter (6’6/256) had a 2021 for the ages, setting the all-time Army record with 44 tackles, 15.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles while being named Second Team All-American. He managed to accrue 59 pressures and a sterling 93.4 PFF pass-rush grade, as Carter had a ton of steam behind him heading into 2022. However last year wasn’t as dominant for him, going from 59 to 23 pressures with just 3.5 sacks as Carter’s lack of bulk was clearly a factor. Despite a down 2022, Carter still had potential early-Day 2 buzz until he got manhandled at the Senior Bowl which sent the Army standout tumbling down draft boards. The concerns about his play strength were only solidified when Carter only put up 11 bench reps, a 3rd percentile mark for edge defenders. While Carter’s agility drills were 87th and 94th percentile marks, Carter is a raw, developmental prospect who needs significant weight training to be able to hold up against NFL offensive linemen.

PFF’s Mike Renner has the New England Patriots selecting Army EDGE Andre Carter II with the 15th overall selections in his way too early mock draft.
Renner putting Carter II (6'7/260) in the first round of his way too early mock draft is fascinating on a few levels. The selection of Carter II in round one would be the highest serviceman drafted since Mike Wahle was a second-round pick in the supplemental draft. For a service academy player, Carter II has more size than your normal Army defensive lineman and sported a PFF pass-rush grade of 93.4 this past year.
