Bears agreed to terms with LB Amen Ogbongbemiga, formerly of the Chargers, on a one-year, $2.1 million contract.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the deal includes $1.1 million guaranteed and is worth up to $2.5 million. That’s a great deal for a special teamer. Ogbongbemiga has only taken the field for 19 defensive snaps over the past two years but has logged 672 special teams snaps in that span. He contributed four tackles but recovered two fumbles in 2023.

Chargers declared RB Josh Kelley, DB Trey Marshall, QB Easton Stick, LB Amen Ogbongbemiga, and TE Tre’ McKitty inactive for Week 1 against Washington.
After struggling with the hamstring issue this week, Ekeler is expected to be a full go against a tough Football Team defense. With Joshua Kelley inactive for Week 1, Ekeler, Justin Jackson, and Larry Rountree will be the Bolts’ running backs against Washington. Ekeler is a top-10 option in PPR formats.

Chargers signed Oklahoma State LB Amen Ogbongbemiga.
Ogbongbemiga (6’1/231) was born in Nigeria before eventually settling in Calgary, where he achieved three-star status. After not playing much his first three seasons, Ogbongbemiga earned a starting role and excelled, posting 180 tackles, 20.5 TFL, 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles over the past two years. Ogbongbemiga earned second team All-Big 12 accolades in 2019 and 2020 in addition to logging over 500 career special teams snaps. A good but not great athlete, he posted 24 bench reps (81st percentile) and a solid 4.63 40-yard dash (79th percentile) to go with his 5.92 RAS. Ogbongbemiga takes good angles to the ball and has enough range to get to the sideline. His frame is a little slight and he gets lost in coverage at times with only one career PBU. Ogbongbemiga has ample special teams experience which could help land him a two-down reserve linebacker role.

Oklahoma State redshirt senior LB Amen Ogbongbemiga tested positive for COVID-19.
Ogbongbemiga (6'1/231) divulged his positive test to social media, noting that he had taken part in a protest in Tulsa after previously observing the preventive measures suggested by health officials. Wrote the redshirt senior linebacker, “If you are going to protest, take care of yourself and stay safe.” Ogbongbemiga was one of 30 players to return to campus this week as the Cowboys look to get things started with voluntary workouts and the like. ESPN’s Sam Kahn Jr. reports that all 30 of those players, as well as coaches and staff, were tested for the novel coronavirus. Khan reports that Ogbongbemiga will be retested on Friday, as well as at a later time, and will be quarantined in “separate on-campus housing.” Last season, Ogbongbemiga earned second-team All-Big 12 recognition.
