LSU senior DL Ali Gaye will return for the 2022 season.
Gaye lost most of last season to injury, appearing in just four games. He was one of the best linemen in the country in 2020, making the All-SEC Second Team with 32 total tackles (9.5 for loss), two sacks, one interception and six passes defensed. His return is huge for the Tigers, and a sigh of relief for new HC Brian Kelly.

LSU senior DL Ali Gaye (undisclosed) left Saturday’s 42-21 loss to Kentucky.
Gaye (6'6/262) left Saturday’s game and did not return. Twitter reports suggested anything from an Achilles injury to a hand injury, to, “a stinger,” so we don’t quite know what he’s dealing with at this time. Head coach Ed Orgeron didn’t have much to say on Gaye’s injury after the game, as we wait to see what gets reported on later in the week. Gaye has been one of LSU’s top defensive players this season per Pro Football Focus. He has 20 QB pressures on the season along with 16 hurries and three sacks. He has 12 tackles on the season. LSU plays host to SEC rival Florida next week.
