Texans signed undrafted LSU EDGE Ali Gaye.
Gaye burst onto the scene in 2020 at LSU after transferring in from Garden City Community College, receiving Second Team All-SEC honors and an 83.4 PFF pass rush grade while leading the Tigers with 9.5 TFL. Gaye has a nice speed rush and a swipe and go move, but lacks fluidity, hand technique, and the ability to chain moves together. A lack of motor and finishing ability are apparent and regularly being juked in the open field, which is reflected in his 20.4% career missed tackle rate. He plays tall but will be dominated if he does not fix his pad level against the run in the pros. His mediocre production at the college level, with only seven sacks over three years, is also a concern. Gaye is an intriguing boom or bust option who needs further refinement.
