Haynes

All three played in NFL Europe this spring, sustained injuries, and will battle for roster spots.

A special teams move. Haynes was a returner, not a ball carrying option.

If that happens, Eric Shelton and/or Nick Goings will probably be out of a job. Haynes played in NFL Europa in 2006 and spent last year on Carolina’s practice squad.

Freeman will likely go to the practice squad. The addition of Haynes, a kick returner, may mean Nick Goings (concussion) will miss a few more games.

Goings was working ahead of Ryne Robinson, who will still return punts. A strong preseason by Alex Haynes has made the writing on the wall very obvious for Eric Shelton.

Williams was out with a stiff ankle. Haynes won’t have a spot on the team.

He has six career touches. This will be Haynes’ third straight training camp with the Panthers, and he’ll be just as poor a bet as ever to make the club.

With Willis McGahee, P.J. Daniels, and Cory Ross banged up, the team needed to add training camp depth. Cornerback Anwar Phillips was released to make room on the roster.

His deal has a base value of $14 million and a maximum value of $20 million. He will get $10.795 million in guarantees. Stewart was already running and hitting Saturday, hours after signing. The team released running back Alex Haynes and linebacker Brandon Jamison to make room on the roster.

The Ravens are shorthanded at running back now and will likely be active in the coming days. McCune was competing for a role on special teams.
