Washington junior DB Alex Cook (undisclosed) was able to fly back with the rest of the team following Friday’s win over Arizona.
Cook (6'1/195) was carted off the field and taken to a Tucson hospital after suffering a serious injury during the first half of Friday’s game. The good news is that the junior was able to regain feeling/movement in all extremities while being evaluated, and he flew back to Seattle with the rest of the team. There is no timeline regarding Cook’s return to the gridiron, but that’s the least of anyone’s concerns given the scene at Arizona Stadium Friday night.

  • Safety #37
Washington junior DB Alex Cook (undisclosed) exited on a stretcher in Friday’s Week 8 matchup at Arizona.
It was a disturbing scene Friday night in Tucson, Arizona, as Washington DB Alex Cook (6'1/202) attempted a tackle on Wildcats running back Jalen John, and didn’t get up after the play. Players from both sidelines gathered around Cook as trainers called on a stretcher to remove Cook from the play. It took roughly 10 minutes for play to resume, as players on both sides were clearly concerned for the junior DB. Cook, a starter for the Huskies, has 32 total tackles on the season and one pass break up.

  • Safety #37
Washington redshirt sophomore Alex Cook switched from wide receiver to safety.
Cook (6'1/202) was a three-star signing by the Huskies who had offers from schools like Michigan and Oregon, but he hasn’t been able to find the field with Washington, and has just one catch for 26 yards. The Huskies lost their entire starting secondary, so there could be room for Cook to play on defense; even if it’s most likely in a backup role in 2019.
