This will confuse the fantasy masses. Even if he’s healthy, Stecker doesn’t look like an every-down back. Look for New Orleans to re-sign Ki-Jana Carter and give him plenty of carries.

Deuce McAllister’s backup missed a week of practice with the injury.

Before Deuce McAllister owners get too excited, the Saints still expect Stecker and Carter to carry the load this weekend.

They could possibly re-sign Ki-Jana Carter if Stecker isn’t ready. They also added nickel corner Fred Thomas as questionable.

He was writhing in pain and needed to be carted off. With Michael Bennett gone, New Orleans would be thin at running back without Stecker. X-rays later came back negative for a high ankle sprain.

They might want Michael Bennett back now. With Deuce McAllister also slow to recover from knee surgery, the Saints will use undrafted rookie Jamaal Branch behind Reggie Bush.

“It’s good news considering,” coach Sean Payton said. Stecker should be back in time for Week 1, when he’ll be the Saints’ No. 3 running back. If Deuce McAllister or Reggie Bush miss any time this season, Stecker will get significant carries.

Stecker is New Orleans’ third-string tailback.

Scott is buried on the depth chart and not healthy. New Orleans will go with only two active tailbacks today.

He’s the man behind Deuce McAllister this season. We’ll consider Stecker day-to-day.
