LA Rams at San Francisco 49ers prediction: Odds, expert picks, QB matchup, betting trends, and stats

After a wild win over the Bills this past Sunday, the LA Rams (7-6) are not only in the hunt for a playoff berth. They control their own destiny. The San Francisco 49ers (6-7) have endured a season filled with injuries to key personnel (McCaffrey, Aiyuk, etc…) and yet they too are back in the hunt following their dominant win Sunday against the Bears. Thursday night they meet at Levi’s Stadium in an obviously crucial divisional and conference tilt. It is late enough in the season to call this a true elimination game.

With a full stable of talent now at his disposal, Matthew Stafford is leading an elite offense. It was on full display Sunday against Buffalo. Sure, the defense has holes and if the Rams want to earn a playoff spot, they need to pile on the points in order to overcome that porous defense. But they have proven they can. Following Thursday’s game, the Rams have games in New York against the Jets and close with two at home against the Cardinals and the Seahawks. Los Angeles to make the playoffs (+150) is worth considering.

San Francisco has weathered injuries to the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year, one of the league’s top defensive ends, their best wide receiver, and oh by the way, their quarterback has been banged up. Yet somehow, they still are in the hunt. Unlike the Rams, the 49ers do not control their own destiny and their opponents (@ Miami, vs. Detroit, @ Arizona) appear to be far more daunting.

The winner stays very much alive in the race for the playoffs. The loser’s hopes take a serious hit. Lets dive into the matchup and find a few sweats.

The latest odds courtesy of DraftKings:
· Moneyline: Los Angeles Rams (+105), San Francisco 49ers (-110)
· Spread: 49ers -2
· Total: 49

This line has shifted 0.5 points towards the Rams since Opening on Sunday evening. Not shocking following LA’s late afternoon performance against the Buffalo Bills. That said, the Total has not moved. As fans and casual bettors overreact to this past weekend, that number may well move north of 49. If you believe that and are thinking points aplenty in this one, bet it now to get the best of the number.
