Zach Collins (right shoulder surgery) has been fully cleared for the start of training camp.
Collins underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder shortly after the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. The expectation was that he’d be ready for training camp, and the Spurs confirmed that news on Friday. With Victor Wembanyama locked into the starting center role, Collins’ fantasy value will be low heading into the 2024-25 season. At best, he’s a late-round pick in deep league as insurance for Wembanyama.

Zach Collins will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder but should be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season.
Collins injured his shoulder early in the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the Pistons and will need his fifth surgery since entering the NBA. One of the previous four was to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder back in 2019, with the other three being on his left ankle. The expectation is that Collins will be healthy for the start of next season, which is unlikely to impact his fantasy value. With Victor Wembanyama firmly entrenched as the starting center, Collins was most valuable on nights when the French phenom did not play due to injury.
  • SAS Power Forward #23
The Spurs will start Zach Collins, Blake Wesley, Julian Champagnie, Tre Jones and Sandro Mamukelashvili in Sunday’s matchup with the Pistons.
It’s a starting lineup for the ages as the last-place Spurs close out the 2023-24 campaign with most of the usual starters on the sidelines. Collins has averaged 16.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists in nine games played without Victor Wembanyama this season.
  • SAS Power Forward #23
Zach Collins (left thumb contusion) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Pistons, and Dominick Barlow (left knee bone bruise) is out.
With Victor Wembanyama (ankle) out, Collins would receive the starting nod if he’s available to play. Sandro Mamukelashvili and Julian Champagnie are worth rostering regardless of what happens with Collins, as they’ll be in the starting lineup. As for Barlow, his continued absence will not impact active fantasy leagues.

Victor Wembanyama (right ankle injury management) is not on the injury report for Friday’s game against the Nuggets.
Wembanyama was out of Wednesday’s loss to the Thunder, and Zach Collins replaced him in the starting lineup. His absence from the initial injury report for Friday’s game means Wemby will be available to take on the Nuggets, which pushes Collins to the bench.
  • SAS Power Forward #23
Zach Collins led the Spurs with 20 points (8-of-17 FGs), seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks, two triples and five turnovers in a 127-89 loss to the Thunder on Wednesday.
With Victor Wembanyama sidelined on the second night of a back-to-back, Collins moved into the starting unit. After opening the season as a starter, Collins has only seen a handful of starts since December. He has generally been effective when he has been given the extra minutes, which held true in this game. If Wemby is back for their final two games, Collins’ upside will be limited in a reserve role. However, if Wembanyama were to miss one, if not both, of their last two games, Collins should be a solid streaming option.

Tre Jones, Malaki Branham, Justin Champagnie, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Zach Collins will start Wednesday’s game against the Thunder.
Rookie of the Year favorite Victor Wembanyama is out, so Collins moves into the starting lineup. As has been the case throughout the season, he’s worth rostering in active fantasy leagues whenever allowed to start for Wemby. The other four starters are unchanged.
  • SAS Power Forward #1
Victor Wembanyama (right ankle injury management) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Thunder.
Wemby will sit out the second night of a back-to-back after logging 31 minutes in Tuesday’s win over Memphis. Zach Collins should slide into the starting center spot, with Dominick Barlow filling out the backup minutes, if he is available. If not, Sandro Mamukelashvili will likely soak up some of the minutes down low after he grabbed 16 boards in 26 minutes against the Grizzlies.
  • SAS Power Forward #1
The Spurs will start Tre Jones, Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama against the Jazz on Wednesday.
Wemby is back after missing their last game with an ankle sprain. His return pushes Zach Collins back to the bench, where he won’t be quite as effective in fantasy. San Antonio will be back to their preferred starting unit.
  • SAS Power Forward #1
Victor Wembanyama (left ankle sprain) is available for Wednesday’s game against the Jazz.
Wembanyama is available after sitting out Monday’s win over Phoenix, relegating Zach Collins to the bench. Collins’ fantasy value takes a hit with Wemby in the lineup, but he is someone fantasy managers should hold into for the stretch run. Keldon Johnson, also listed as questionable, remains a game-time decision.
