Usman Garuba was announced as a new Real Madrid player on Tuesday.
The 23rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Garuba failed to make an impact with either the Rockets or Warriors. While it was reported as early as May that he would ultimately sign with Real Madrid, the move did not become official until Tuesday. Garuba’s exit will not impact fantasy basketball, as he struggled to earn rotation minutes in the NBA.
  • GSW Power Forward #12
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors have signed Usman Garuba to a standard contract for the remainder of the season.
A first-round pick of the Rockets in 2021, Garuba has only appeared in five games for the Warriors this season. His signing fills out the Warriors’ roster for the postseason, but it will not impact the rotation.
  • GSW Power Forward #12
Usman Garuba (right finger dislocation) is not on the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Trail Blazers.
Garuba’s availability will not impact fantasy basketball, as he hasn’t been in the Warriors rotation. Leave him on the waiver wire.
  • GSW Power Forward #12
Usman Garuba (right finger dislocation) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Clippers.
Garuba has been ruled out for another game, and his absence will not impact the Warriors’ rotation or fantasy basketball.
  • GSW Power Forward #12
Usman Garuba (right finger dislocation) will not play in Thursday’s game against the Clippers.
Garuba isn’t in the rotation when healthy, so his continued absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
  • GSW Power Forward #12
Usman Garuba (right finger dislocation) will not play against the Kings on Tuesday.
Garuba is on a two-way contract and has yet to see the floor for the Warriors this season. His absence won’t impact fantasy basketball.
  • FA Power Forward #16
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that Usman Garuba has signed a two-way deal with the Warriors.
Through two NBA seasons, the Spanish big man has averaged just 2.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks across 11.4 minutes per contest. Still just 21 years old and boasting a three-and-D skillset, he’s got the potential to be productive with the Warriors if he can crack the rotation. Until that happens, he’s not worth rostering outside of deep dynasty leagues.
  • OKC Power Forward #16
According to Mike Scotto, Usman Garuba was waived by the Thunder on Monday.
The 23rd pick of the 2021 Draft played a limited role in two seasons with Houston before his trade to OKC in the offseason. The young big man shouldn’t have trouble finding a new team, but it’s unlikely he’ll be a relevant fantasy option in 12-team leagues.
  • OKC Power Forward #16
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks have traded Usman Garuba, TyTy Washington, Rudy Gay, and a future second-round pick to the Thunder for Patty Mills.
The 23rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Garuba appeared in 99 games over the course of two seasons in Houston. While praised for his defensive ability, he remained on the back end of the Rockets’ rotation. That was unlikely to change in Atlanta, so he, Washington, and Gay are being traded to Oklahoma City in a move that will save the Hawks $4.5 million in cap space. The Thunder have a lot of young big men, so the fight for rotation minutes won’t get any easier for Garuba if he remains in OKC.
  • ATL Power Forward #16
Houston is nearing a deal that will send Usman Garuba to Atlanta, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Since being drafted 23rd in 2021, Garuba has been a depth piece for the Rockets. He’ll get a fresh start in Atlanta in a cost-cutting move for Houston, but that won’t result in him getting much of an opportunity at minutes.
