The Nets will start Cameron Johnson, Tyrese Martin, Jalen Wilson, Ziaire Williams and Ben Simmons against the Magic on Friday.
Brooklyn will be without Dennis Schroder and Dorian Finney-Smith for this game, which allows Martin and Wilson to start. Wilson is back after a one-game absence, while Martin is coming off a career-game in a win over the Suns. Managers shouldn’t expect him to go for 30 points and eight 3-pointers again, but it is good to see him be rewarded for having a big game.

Tyrese Martin went off in Wednesday’s win over Phoenix, tallying 30 points (10-of-13 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), four rebounds, two assists, and eight 3-pointers in 27 minutes.
What a night for Martin, whose previous career-high was six points. He came out firing and did not stop until he’d hit the 30-point mark, and the Nets were headed home with their third straight win on the road. Fantasy managers should not expect Martin to continue on this path, but Brooklyn’s many injuries have opened the door for others to step up. Trendon Watford (18 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two 3-pointers in 21 minutes) is a more reliable streaming option.
  • NBA Small Forward #22
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Tyrese Martin has signed a one-year deal with the Timberwolves.
The 2022 second-rounder logged just 4.1 minutes per game across 16 contests as a rookie for Atlanta, and he’s not expected to take on a substantially larger role in Minnesota. Martin can stay safely out of your mind when drafting for the upcoming fantasy hoops season.
  • NBA Small Forward #22
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Tyrese Martin has been waived by the Hawks.
The Hawks had until Friday to make a decision on Martin, as his salary for the 2023-24 season would have been fully guaranteed had he remained on the roster. The former UConn standout had his moments in Summer League action earlier this month, but it wasn’t enough to convince the Hawks to guarantee his contract. This move won’t significantly impact fantasy basketball.
  • ATL Small Forward #22
Tyrese Martin shot 9-of-15 from the field and 5-of-7 from the foul line in Wednesday’s 99-93 win over the Timberwolves, scoring 25 points with nine rebounds, three assists, and two 3-pointers in 23 minutes.
After appearing in only 16 games as a rookie, Martin’s looking to earn a longer look from the Hawks in 2023-24. The former UConn standout was outstanding on Wednesday, putting up a game-high point total while also being a factor in the rebound and assist categories. Expecting quality fantasy production from Martin would be too much right now, but he should figure more prominently in the competition for minutes on the wing when training camp begins.
  • BKN Small Forward #13
Tyrese Martin led the Hawks with 21 points and four assists in Saturday’s SL win over the Cavs.
He also had three boards, two 3-pointers, a steal and a block, but with both Dejounte Murray and Trae Young on the roster it’s going to be tough for Martin to make a big splash in Atlanta.

  • BKN Small Forward #13
The Hawks signed Tyrese Martin, who they selected with the 51st pick in the draft, to a multi-year contract on Saturday.
The notable thing here is that it’s a full contract, not a two-way deal. The specific details of the contract weren’t disclosed. Atlanta acquired Martin in a draft-night trade with the Warriors that gave them the 51st pick and cash in exchange for the 44th pick. Martin has been solid through four Summer League games, averaging 12 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He won’t see enough minutes as a rookie to make a fantasy impact, but the Hawks clearly like him enough to ensure he’s around.

Tyrese Martin finished Tuesday’s 95-88 win over the Heat with 21 points (9-of-14 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), six rebounds, and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes.
Known primarily for his versatility and defensive ability as a collegian, Martin played very well on the offensive end of the floor Tuesday night. He shot better than 50% from the field in leading the Hawks to the win, showing off the ability to break down the defense off the dribble. With first-round pick A.J. Griffin sidelined due to injury, these games are a good opportunity for Martin to show that he’ll deserve a longer look once training camp begins.

With their second pick in the 2022 Draft, the Hawks took UConn SG Tyrese Martin at No. 51 overall.
This pick initially belonged to Golden State but headed to Atlanta in a draft-night trade. The four-year NCAA guard boasts a 6'6", 215-pound frame, but we weren’t sure he’d be drafted because he doesn’t stand out in any particular facet of the game. He’s a decent shooter, playmaker and defender, and is a strong rebounder for his position. However, he’s not a good free throw shooter or ball handler and struggles to guard quicker players. He’ll be nothing more than a 3-and-D NBA role player if he manages to stick in the league long term.

  • BKN Small Forward #13
UConn redshirt junior shooting guard Tyrese Martin announced on Tuesday that he will forego his final season of eligibility and enter the 2022 NBA Draft.
No surprise here, as the 6-foot-6, 215-pound Martin recently turned 23 years old. A fixture in the Huskies’ starting lineup, he averaged 13.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.5 blocks, and 1.5 3-pointers per game this season. A solid perimeter shooter, Martin finished his final season at UConn with shooting splits of 44.9% from the field, 43.0% from three, and 68.9% from the foul line. He stands to fit the 3-and-D wing mold at the next level, and the pre-draft process will be critical for Martin as he looks to hear his name called this summer.
