ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Wizards signed F/C Tristan Vukcevic to a two-way deal.
Vukcevic averaged 9.4 points and 3.7 boards across 14.6 minutes per game last season with Washington. Heading into Year 3, he’ll serve as Alex Sarr’s top backup at center, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Washington eventually converted his contract into a standard deal.

Tristan Vukcevic finished Sunday’s win over the Heat with 28 points (9-of-12 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), 11 rebounds, five assists, one block and four three-pointers in 39 minutes.
While Alexandre Sarr (10/8/4/1 with one three-pointer) remained in the starting lineup for Sunday’s season finale, the rookie was limited to 16 minutes in Miami. Vukcevic played the lion’s share of the minutes at the center position, and the second-year pivot was outstanding. The 28 points were a career-high for the 6-foot-10 Wizard, who scored 14 or more in five of his last six appearances. Vukcevic’s fantasy value for next season is limited due to Sarr being the Wizards’ post player of the future. However, Vukcevic’s finish should keep the 22-year-old in the discussion for a rotation spot off the bench.

JT Thor (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Heat.
Initially questionable for Sunday’s season finale, Thor will not play. Given the length of Washington’s injury report, rookie starters Alexandre Sarr and Kyshawn George may play a few minutes more than they have in recent games. Also, look for Tristan Vukcevic and Colby Jones to log heavy minutes off the bench.

Tristan Vukcevic provided a boost off the bench with 17 points (7-of-14 FGs), three rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks and one three-pointer against the Bulls on Friday.
Vukcevic was able to provide some offense off the bench for Washington in a game where the team struggled to score. He scored 11 of their 43 points in the first half and was one of four players to score in double figures in a game where they scored just 89 points as a team. This is the second year in a row where Vukcevic has had a strong finish to the season, but it’s unclear how he’ll fit into the rotation next season. Still, he’ll play a lot in Miami on Sunday to close out the season.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Bulls.
Holmes is set to miss his fifth straight game on Friday. Tristan Vukcevic can continue to take advantage of his absence as Washington’s backup center.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is doubtful for Friday’s game against the Bulls and JT Thor (knee) is questionable.
Holmes has missed Washington’s last four games and appears likely to miss a fifth on Friday. With Anthony Gill (hamstring) already out, Thor is one of the Wizards who may pick up a few more minutes if he can go. Tristan Vukcevic would be the big “winner” regarding playing time; he’s worth slotting into lineups in deep leagues that are still active.

Alexandre Sarr played 25 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the 76ers, scoring 12 points (5-of-14 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs) with three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one blocked shot.
Sarr struggled with his shot Wednesday night, with the athletic Adem Bona proving a difficult matchup for the lottery pick. More concerning for managers in active leagues is the playing time, as Sarr played 24 minutes and backup Tristan Vukcevic logged 25. Vuk played well, finishing with 24 points (7-of-13 FGs, 7-of-9 FTs), six rebounds and three three-pointers. Sarr is undoubtedly worth holding onto, but managers should not sleep on Vukcevic for Washington’s final two games.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is out for Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
Holmes is out for the fourth game in a row with a shoulder injury. Tristan Vukcevic is likely to continue to take his minutes off the bench, though he doesn’t have much fantasy value in a back up role.
  • WAS Center #00
Tristan Vukcevic (knee) is off the injury report ahead of Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
Vukcevic is set to return from a two-game layoff. The backup center will have less competition than usual with Richaun Holmes (shoulder) listed as doubtful and should get plenty of time behind Alexandre Sarr.
  • WAS Power Forward #22
Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is doubtful for Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
Holmes is expected to miss his fourth-straight game on Wednesday. Tristan Vukcevic should continue to absorb minutes off the bench if Holmes is ruled out.
