The Spurs have held preliminary conversations regarding a contract extension for Tony Parker.
Parker is currently eligible to receive a six-year extension worth up to almost $86 million. He’s not seeking a max deal, but he’s probably not going to be willing to accept too much less.

Coach Gregg Popovich listed Tony Parker as probable to play tonight against Utah.
Parker has yet to play this season due to a sprained ankle. The Spurs list him in their expected starting lineup tonight. San Antonio has four games this week, and Tim Duncan could also return, so Parker isn’t a bad gamble even coming off injury.

X-rays taken at the arena were negative, but Tony Parker’s thumb was too sore to be re-taped, which is what prevented him from returning to last night’s game.

Tony Parker announced his retirement from the NBA after 18 seasons.
His goal was always to play 20 seasons in the NBA, and while he said he still feels physically able to do it, he thought it was time to walk away. “A lot of different stuff ultimately led me to this decision,” Parker said. “But, at the end of the day, I was like, if I can’t be Tony Parker anymore and I can’t play for a championship, I don’t want to play basketball anymore.” He’ll retire as a 4-time NBA champion and is a lock to enter the Hall of Fame.

Tony Parker acknowledged that he’s contemplating retirement.
“It’s 50-50. I haven’t made my decision yet,” Parker said regarding the possibility of retiring this summer. “I told the club that I will give them an answer in June. I really hesitate. I have nothing to prove. I want to spend time with my family. And there’s another part of me that wants to make one last season.” Parker made it clear during his exit interview that he wants to play for a contender, so if he does decide to play one more season, it likely won’t be in Charlotte.

Tony Parker stated during his exit interview that he does not want to be a part of a rebuilding team.
“I don’t want to play on a rebuilding team,” said Parker. “I want to play for a team that’s fighting to make the playoffs at least.” Parker added that his preference would be to return to Charlotte, but that will likely hinge on what happens with Kemba Walker this summer. Parker can be a serviceable backup point guard, but he’s well past his days of being a relevant name in fantasy hoops.
